Try this to reset the error.

1) Close the print head cover, and turn off the printer. While pressing the Resume/Cancel button, press the Power button. (Do not release the buttons. The LED lights in green to indicate that a function is selectable.)

2) While holding the Power button, release the Resume/Cancel button. (Do not release the Power button.)

3) While holding the Power button, press the Resume/Cancel button three times, and then release the Power and Resume/Cancel buttons. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in either orange or green, starting with orange.) During initialization, the LED blinks in green.

4) When the LED stops blinking and lights in green, press the Resume/Cancel button the 4 times. (Each time the Resume/Cancel button is pressed, the LED lights alternately in either orange or green, starting with orange.)

5) Press the Power button. The LED lights in green, and the selected function is performed. (When the operation completes, the printer returns to the menu selection mode automatically.)

6) Power off then back on and test.

If it still comes up with this error there might be some paper down near the print heads. If there is no paper there, you might have an actual hardware issue.

I have a canon ip90, I have an error code of 5C00. How do I fix this?

Hello thanks for using Fixya
5C00 is a purge unit error
This error code tells that the purge unit did not complete a good power on cycle and the cam is not in the correct position. In typical words that means the purge unit is stuck extended due to accumulation of a lot of dried up ink.
To solve it follow this
  • Open the cover and when the head comes to the center, pull the power cord.
  • Once that power is off you can now move the carriage to the far left so it is out of the way.
  • Now use a paper towel and gently blot all the excess ink off of the ink Pads and press them down. If the Wiper blade is extended, clean it and it should snap back in position.
  • If it is still stuck, try spraying the area with Windex but don't get any on anything except the pads.
If you have any fear to do this then best option is to take it back where you purchased it or contact Canon service center about the error code. They will surely solve it.

I hope this solution will helpful 4 u

I am getting an error message for my Pixma iP90 Printer and it is 5C00 can you help

5C00 is a purge unit error, the purge is the unit that cleans the printhead on the right hand side. If the printhead will come out of the right side, you will need to check for paper scraps caught in there, If stuck on the right you will need a shop to check it out for you so you don't break anything. You need to remove covers and printhead and check under the printhead in the purge unit.

Can I fit new purge unit to my canon ip90 or does

Canon doesnt sell that purge unit alone because it's too hard to change even for a shop tech. The only option is to replace the entire print engine. QM2-2020-000, and the cost is near the cost of a new printer...

Canon iP90 error 5C00

5C00 is a purge unit error, thats the cleaning unit on the right where the printhead parks. Look inside with a flashlight, if nothing is blocking it's operation, you willl need a new print engine, qm2-2020-000 around $150.00

Canon IP90 Service error 5C00

BCI - 15 is not the same as the BCI -16. The look and feel the same, but the ink is handled differently by the printer - so while, in theory you could use them interchangable, the output would be terrible... Canon set it so that you can only use a BCI 16 in an IP90.

Buy a BCI - 16 cart and try that.

Canon pixma ip90 printer

if your printer is flashing 4 orange and then back to green repeatedly - i found a solution to it for my ip90v - i opened the printer and checked the right hand side cogs - carefully turn them and you may see that some stray paper jam debris is blocking the cleaning unit from returning to its home in the bottom front of the printer - carefully remove it and replace the casing - turn on and with any luck you will have a dully functioning ip90 like i did.

Hope it helps some others out

Error 5C00 on Canon iP90

i took out both printer cartriges then put them back in. there was a window that asks if you replaced the cartriges; click yes then click on the black and color boxes indicating you replaced (re-inserted) both cartriges. for me the light stopped blinking (previously, it was blinking orange 4 times). next i tried to print but only yellow and black appeared. i then cleaned the head 2 times.

to clean:
-go to control panel
-click on printers
-click on printers and faxes
-find your printer, right click on it
-click properties
-find the maintenance tab
-click cleaning
(clean a couple of times if needed)

hopefully it works...
