My tv will not go to wide screen. It stays in 4:3. I can't see top or bottom 2-3 inches
Make sure you do not have the automatic screen mode set to wide screen on tv menu .Also if you have cable box set to wide mode only then the tv will only display wide mode.
well first put a signal that you know id displayed in full format such as a regular cable channel .Then you know if tv is okay or not.Even some dvd only have widescreen format and thus will only display like that..Try a VCR and if it too is in widemode..,then definitely it should be a setting on MENU .

I tried the solution. The screen has not changed. The screen is in the same format even when I play DVD. Thanks
Everything is set on 16:9 widesreen(directv and dvd vcr). TV is set on automatic. When I switch from automatic to non automatic, the only thing that happens is on auto the picture is centered and the non auto only the bottom of the picture shows.
Finally, On my TV RCA remote I used the zoom- and zoom+ buttons. This feature will switch your tv mode from 4:3, 14:6, 16:9 zoom, cinema and 16:9 cinema which is what I needed.
