Colors are off after auto adjust

The menu and startup on the AOpen look fine color wise, but when the monitor receives signal it's ok for less than a second and then auto adjusts to a yellowish hue. Applying auto adjust fixes the colors for half a second then it reverts back to the yellowish hue. Closest fix is to bring red and green to 0 and blue to 100. Recall does not help.

I seem to have found the solution (and the cause, perhaps?) for this problem!

I was having the EXACT same problem with a monitor I'm repairing for a friend. The capacitors on the power supply board were blown (CapXon capacitors, who'd've guessed), which was keeping it from powering up. After replacing the capacitors, the screen worked beautifully. But it had this weird yellow tint!

The strange part was that pure colors - red, green, blue - all appeared perfectly OK on screen. Curiously, the menus would show in the proper colors, except for one: the manual color adjustment menu, which illustrated "Blue" as a sort of off-green in the icon. Auto-Adjust would always fix the colors for a split second, then go back to yellow. Reset didn't fix it. Color reset didn't either. So, exactly the same problem as above.

The solution I found was hidden within the main menu itself, a sort of "easter egg". Hold the Menu button down while pressing Power, and hold it down until the screen, and menu, appear. There will now be a hidden selection, "Auto Color", printed in a red-on-black font at the bottom of the menu. Use the +/- buttons to access it, and press Menu. Voila! PERFECT COLOR! Perhaps this menu was accessed by accident, and calibrated to an incorrect color key. But now my picture works great, and the setting lasts through Auto-Adjusts and Resets!

Hope this helps some people, it sure saved my ****! ;)

Troubleshooting Flat Panel Monitor issues.

Screen is blank and power indicator is off

The monitor is possibly not receiving power. Perform the following steps to fix the problem:
 1. Ensure that the electrical outlet and the monitor are both switched on.
 2. Check that the power cord is firmly plugged into the electrical outlet and the power supply unit.
 3. If the power cord has a removable fuse, replace it.
 4. Try another power cord.
 5. Try another electrical outlet.
 6. Check the power connection at the back of the panel.

Brightness and Contrast may be too low. Adjust the brightness and contrast using the On-screen display controls (OSD) by selecting the button

The monitor is in the Power Management Standby state. The power management feature is invoked when the computer recognizes that you have not used your mouse or keyboard for a user-definable period. Perform the following steps to bring monitor out of the power management state:
 1. Press any key on the keyboard or move the mouse to restore operation.
 2. Check the Power Management software on your computer.

Display mode of the computer is outside the range of the monitor. The display mode the monitor uses is controlled by your computer. Therefore, you should refer to your computer's documentation for details on how to change display modes.

The image size, position and shape may change when the display mode changes. This is normal and the image can be readjusted using the IMAGE SETUP and the monitor controls.

Note: Unlike CRT monitors, which requires a high refresh rate to minimize flicker, TFT technology is inherently flicker-free. If possible, configure your computer for 1600 x 1200 addressability at 60Hz vertical refresh rate.

Use the following table as a guideline and reconfigure your computer to use a supported display mode. The highest resolution (for example, 1600 x 1200) produces the optimal output, but limitations of your monitor may prohibit this setting. Adjust the addressability mode until an image appears.

CHECK SIGNAL CABLE" message is shown and power indicator is steady amber.

The monitor is not receiving a video signal. Perform the following steps to fix the problem:
 1. Check that the signal cable is firmly connected to your computer
 2. Check that no pins are bent in the signal cable connector.
There are noises in the video signal. The IMAGE SETUP function is used to adjust the level of noise in the video signal which causes horizontal lines or areas where the image appears to be unstable and jitters or shimmers. This can be done automatically or manually.

Lock on monitor adjustments don't know how to turn off the lock so we can adjust brightness and color

Follow these instructions :
 1. Turn on your Samsung monitor (if it isn't already.)

 2. Press the "AUTO" button on your Samsung monitor. This will run the automatic configuration utility. This will look at your current computer settings and adjust your monitor to best match those. This will take a few seconds. If this has calibrated the monitor to meet your needs, you are finished with the process. If it hasn't, continue to Step 3.
 3. Press the "Menu" button on your Samsung computer monitor.
 4. Use the arrows and the "Enter" button on the monitor to highlight and select various settings categories.
 5. Use the "Brightness" menu on your Samsung monitor to adjust how bright or dark you want the image.
 6. Use the "Colors" menu to adjust how prominent certain colors are displayed on your Samsung monitor.
 7. Use the "Contrast" menu to adjust the level of black on your Samsung monitor.
 8. Select "Save and Exit" to save your changes and exit the Samsung monitor's on Screen menu.

My web pages are to bright/ white.how do I fix this I would love to be able to see all the images. The background is white which blends with any light colors.

You can try to reset the monitor settings. Press the Menu button on the monitor and select and select Auto image adjust or reset option. This should bring back the colors or you can manually adjust the RGB (Red Green Blue) color bar from the menu.

Hope you find this information helpful.

Thank you for choosing Fixya

My monitor has a green hue that will not go away when I adjust the colors in the screen. The blue adjuster doesn't seem to do anything. When I use auto adjust, It looks amazing for about 5 seconds then...

If you have another PC try it on the monitor, see if the problem persist. I f it doesn't check your video card's control panel. Some configuration there, may be overriding your monitor's. If you have an nvidia based card run the "optimize my display wizard"

Instructions to do this are as follows. I got to the menu my first try but it has been a pain to get back to it. I hope it will be easier to access for yours.

Hope this helps
