I have a DSC T70. Sometimes i get a message "File Error" for some of the pictures. For these pictures, the file does not show and when printed, the picture is merged with another picture.

The LCD screen of the Camera may display a FILE ERROR message when trying to view a still image on the Camera if the image was rotated, modified and overwritten using editing software on a Computer.

To play images you have taken on the Camera, it is recommended that you do not make any changes to the original image files.

File error

Hi,
It is picture file that stops file transfer function, delete that picture and continue or go to memory card through my computer > mass storage drive and delete that file or copy rest of files and past in computer some where like my documents etc.
That particular picture file DSC03270.jpg is incomplete/ corrupted and causing problem in files transfer operation. Either delete it or bypass it and transfer rest of files from camera.
After transferring files to computer, format memory card to avoid any problem in next time as option would be in camera menu.
Let me know if you have additional question.
Thanks.

File error when viewing pics

Your pictures appear to have been corrupted.
Here is what you can try:
copy the files from your card directly to the computer HD. Then look at the files with your computer system browser, and choose the full view, or in Windows it would be VIEW/ List or details . If the names are missing any letters, then simply do this:
Make a copy of the original file and rename it to something like:

I_G123B,jg (original renamed file...note that I added the B so the name is not the same as the original) to IMG123.jpg . Once the file is renamed to what may have been originally, you will be able to view the picture again.
Some times the corrupted name may be even more confusing. The main thing to remember is to make sure you have a .jpg or .JPG at the end so that the computer system will recognize the file format and be able to read the file. The way you name what is before the period ( .jpg) is not that important, but should reflect the original file for your own information.
This file corruption is more common than one may think. I have seen it on Nikons, Sonys, Canons.
And others.
