Question about Xantrex Technology Xantrex Technologies 813-1000-00 XPower 1000 Watt Inverter

2 Answers

Trace / Xantrex SW5548 inverter (one of two in a stacked pair) works fine in inverting mode but won't connect to AC input power on either AC1 or AC2. AC input leds flash indicating it sees the voltage, the other inverter in the pair connects indicating the power is within frequency and voltage limits, but the slave inverter just continues inverting and, even though it's not drawing any current from the AC line, it gets noticably hot after 15 or 20 minutes

Xantrex Inverter/Charger has no AC output

HI

Checking AC Output
1. After the battery voltage and connections have been checked, disconnect the inverter.s AC output wires from
the power distribution system and connect a light to the AC output of the inverter/charger.
2. Disconnect the remote panel to eliminate it as a possible problem.
3. Turn the inverter ON using the power switch on the front panel of the inverter. The 100-watt light should
illuminate. Measure the voltage at the AC output wires using the multimeter. The reading should be 114.126
VAC or approximately 230 VAC if the unit is an international model. If the light does not illuminate, there is
a problem with the inverter. Contact Xantrex technical support.

Heart Freedom 20 will not default to generator power.

First of all it is possible that the is no power going into the inverter, trace the input source to see if the connection from the generator is ok. check the fuse if it is broken if not, the contactor or switching relay in the inverter is bad

Freedom 20 stops passing good AC input after about 15 sec.

This unit does have an idle mode where it will not output without a load. What I am unsure of is if this exists only for invert mode or for both invert and pass through. Try reprogramming the remote to eliminate the idle feature and then see what happens.

My tram 2512 is stuck in waiting for AC mode, ac is clearly reaching the unit, both by shore power and genset. What could the problem be?

If you are referring to a Trace 2412 inverter, which series is it? An SW or a DR series? In either case, if it won't accept generator power, but the AC input indicator is flashing, the problem is most likely the generator output power is off frequency or voltage. Trace inverters will only connect when the AC input is within certain limits. I'd suggest checking the frequency and voltage output of the generator. If it won't connect to shore power, check the voltage from that source. Make the voltage checks at the inverter input terminals.

My trace inverter SW2512 will only allow pass through power.

First problem is caused by the new generator producing too high a frequency... 65 Hertz is above the inverter limit. Adjust the governor down to 60 or 61 Hertz.
Breaker tripping may be due to excessive current draw from the Honda. Check the max AC input menu on the inverter. It might have been set lower to avoid overloading the original generator but if DC power was turned off at any time while you were changing generators, the inverter would have returned to it's default settings which may exceed the Honda's capacity.

Trace inverter high AC voltage

Not to worry. First thing is you are probably not using a true RMS volt meter. You are reading an average voltage of peak. You have a sine wave inverter. The RV 2012 has a peak of 164 volts. I could go into much more tech detail but may confuse you. If you want to learn more her is a link from my dealer tech sheets. Also if you have checked voltage in a float state it will read high.
Hope this helps you
