SOURCE: harddisk Bad sector & not detecting
Hi, If your partitioning and/or formatting program is already reporting "bad sectors", then your best bet is to replace the hard drive. The mere presence of bad sectors indicates drive problem which in the normal course of time/usage would increase and eventually make the drive inoperable. Using such a drive as your "C" and/or to contain mission critical files may not be to your advantage. Hope this be of some idea/help. Good luck and kind regards.

bad sectors are not fixable as far as hard drives go.
you mmight find software that claims ti fix bad sectors but the claim is false as they only temporarily overwrite the sectors and unmark the bad and remark to good but the problem remains to be the sectors are bad.
The best thing to do is to replace the hard drive with a good used one or a new one.
Sorry but as a technician I know what bad sectors are and what happens when you get them.

Bad sectors ona drive is normal. The modern High capacity drives actually have more capacity than they tell you so that when bad sectors appear they swwap them out for good ones. So I would not worry about it, unless there are lots. How did you discover the bad sectors?
Go to http://www.grc.com and download spinrite. That will have a good go at fixing the bad sectors.

no software made can fix a true bad hdd.

or needs only the seagate firmware update there. (offering only hope here this is none to minuscule.)
if the HDD fails hdd SMART tests it is a bad HDD.
using MS chkdisk command on bad drive is endless path failure.
NO PC told
No OS told
NO HDD maker told.

all modern HDD made have spare hidden sectors inside. not part of the user volume.
all have spare sectors to self repair themselves, (unseen by most user) not me.
when the spares sectors run drive the
drive now has bad sectors and is a NOW BAD HDD.
best is to move the hDD to a USB dock
for later data retrieval.
running any Bad HDD now only causes more data loss and more rapidly.
buy new drive ,reload w10;.
