This sounds like it could be one of two things:

The lid switch doesn't work or the coupling from the motor to the transmission is broken. are you mech. inclined, as this isn't hard to do?

following is a set of steps to disassemble the machine to get to the part:

  1. Using a Phillips screwdriver, remove the screw from each side of the console.
  2. Pull the console forward and up to remove the tabs on the bottom of the end caps, out of the holes in the top.
  3. Lift the console up and lay it on its back.
  4. Unplug the harness connectorfor the lid switch.
  5. Insert a flat screwdriver into the front edge of the clip (located on both sides), and pry back. Remove both clips from the holes in the cabinet and slide down the other end of the clips and out the slot in the rear panel.
  6. Open and hold the lid while grabbing the cabinet front opening. Be sure when tilting the cabinet that the back edge clears the vacuum break.
  7. Tilt the top of the cabinet toward you by pulling on the lid and opening of the cabinet. This releases the back slots of the cabinet from the tabs in the back of the base.
  8. Carefully pull the cabinet away from the base of the washer and set it aside.
Now you have access to most of the parts.
If you need to replace the switch, you will see it on the underside of the cabinet. Two screws hold this in place, with a retainer. Remove the screws and replace the unit. assemble in reverse order.

If you need to change the coupling, following are it's instructions

Now you see the pump on the front of the machine. Remove the clips there, and pull the pump straight forward. Same for motor, place a hand firmly under the motor as it will drop out once the clips are removed. On the back side of the motor, you will see three pronged retainer on motor and transmission shaft. When you buy a replacement for this, it will come with new ones if these are broken. Place the rubber onto the three pronged retainer, replace motor onto transmission and reconnect.

Reassemble in reverse order

Hope this helps

If the machine spins, the lid switch is OK, it could be the timer

Maytag LAT8426AAM agitator only works in delicate cycle

Best guess is a timer contact problem, usually caused by advancing the timer by hand without pushing the dial in to stop the machine first. This causes burnt contacts.

Frigidaire FWT647GHSO when it gets to rinse first rinse cycle, it doesn't stop filling with water. It won't agitate or spin. It works well in the wash cycle, agitates and spins and advances

probably you've got something blocking the water pump from doing its job properly so check that the water pump is free running emptying all the water if not then there is a blockage in the pump normally ist a button, paper clip or other debris out of a trouser pocket eric

Kenmore 90 plus series washer won't spin, barely agitates, will drain - but makes loud noise

It sounds like the transmission is done. Can't pinpoint what it is exactly, but I would start there.

Beko WMP652W washing machine will start cycle but get stuck at end of wash, doesnt go onto rinse or spin any help please?

see the next steps and use the common sense: God bless you
When the cycle doesn't advance, it's probably the timer or a cold-water supply problem: It's the timer, if your washing machine fills with water and begins agitating, but the timer never advances--or if the washer is in a spin cycle and the timer won't advance. Then you need to replace the timer. It may be a cold-water supply problem, if the washing machine fills with water, agitates, drains, and spins, but then doesn't fill with rinse water. See There's no cold water.

GE profile washing machine won't agitate it spins out, drains,

Pull the agitator out and check the drive collar splines. If you have the model I think you have just pull straight up on the agitator. Once removed you will see the drive collar with a 7/16 head bolt, remove it and pull off the collar.First before pulling it off spin it if splines are stripped it will spin freely.
