The machine has weights and springs to hold the drum. It may have something broken like a spring. Going to need to remove the cover if it has one and or turn it around to get at the bottom to see what may be broken. Have to investigate and make sure nothing is damaged. If it had a load off balance before this happened it may have broken a spring. Or just normal wear. The things dont last for ever but some times its an easy fix

SOURCE: Noise at end of spin cycle

Sounds like the drive block is defective. The drive bloce is a aluminum part that attaches the drun to the gearcase. If you remove the agitator you will see a large nut on top of the basket. If the drive block is worn yo will see aluminum peices on top. It is very simle to relace. You will need a spanner wrench to remove the nut. With the nut removed lift the spin basket up and out. Remove the block. You will see that the new block will only fit on one way. Tap it down untill it will not go any further, replace the basket, make sure you tighten the nut securly replace the agitator and you will be back washing.

SOURCE: Roper washer leaves clothes wet after spin cycle.

Thanks, Master Tech; I was having the same problem as Jason. When I put the pen in place, I realized that the motor was running, but the tub wasn't spinning (which I thought it was because of the sound of the motor). So, I put my hand in and gave it a push/spin and it started turning on its own after I did that.. So, I'm going to let it run and see what happens when the cycle is done. At least its a start in the right direction!

SOURCE: Washer drum shakes excessively during fast spin

y shaped piece that contains the spindle that attatches to the basket and allows it to spin is corroded and cracking. you can't buy just the spindle bracket, you must buy the basket too. you'll be buying the front part of the drum too, if you wait to long.

Check the Vibration damper rods to be sure that...
1. They are there and mount is solid.
2. If they are broken in 1/2.
3. The plastic knuckle mounts are not missing/broken.
4. There is oil in the shock absorber/spring section of the rods.

Also - there are suspension springs on the bottom of the tub that could be broken and/or missing.

Replace/repair as necessary.

When the machine is on spin the machine shake so bad that it jumps

If the drum has an unbalanced load any machine will shake like crazy during high speed spin cycle - some even have a buzzer and shut down! Rearrange the clothing in the drum.

Get a lot of vibration on the high spin cycle. Looks like I need to replace the bearings. Can you replace just the bearings? I saw the whole drum can be replaced.

It depends on the make and model of the machine you have. Some drums are bolted together with a front and a back half that split apart. some are heat sealed at the point of manufacture and can't be split. If you take the top off your machine, it should be pretty cleat if the 2 halves are bolted together (You will see bolts). Just be aware that for the noviice, this is a nightmare job. Not only do you have to get the drum out, you then have to knock out the old bearings with ppopriatly sized drifts, without damaging the seats they sit in. THEN you have to get the new ones in without doing any damage to the bearings ot the seats, then you have to get the seal between the 2 halves to seal without any leaks. I recondition machines for a living and I avoid bearing swaps like the plague. I would seriously consider consigning the machine to the scrapheap, rather than doing it yourself!

My Kenmore when in spin cycle it shakes all over the floor rattling and shaking

I can't offer a definitive answer but I have had a little experience.

It is possible it is spinning too fast. The brain of the machine needs to know how fast the motor is spinning in order to control the speed. The motor is fitted with a tachometer sender for this purpose. It is important any replacement motor is fitted with an identical tachometer to the original.

The brain is programmed to cycle the spin slowly at first at increasing speeds to allow the washload to settle and for most of the water to be removed so when full speed is reached there will be less vibration. Perhaps the cycle is incomplete or absent and it is starting on a high speed spin...

The washtub suspension can become worn and weak even though it appears intact...

It is conceivable the drum is imbalanced - a drum that is nicely balanced will not vibrate when spinning without a washload.

Why won't my washer go to a high speed spin when in the spin cycle? it drains the water out of the drum, but it doesn't go into the high speed spin.

well there is two possibilities and one is a safety precaution to keep from ruining the washer .
if the washer cannont distribute the load evenly it will only go into a slow spin try adding more clothes.... to evenly coat the drum >>. the other is if it is out of balance or the wsher isnt't level it will shake violently and spin in slow cause it detects an imbalance problem if this machine has operated a long time overladed , or unlevel it can wear out the tub schocks which takes all vibrations of the tub to give more of a gently ride the a are like schock absorbers....

Shaking washing machine

If the shaking is during the spin cycle and you are using the High setting change it to Medium. This may fix the problem and the clothes will probably come out even dryer since the drum is not banging around.

Shakes during spin cycle

Most out of balance problems are from the clothes in it. Stop it, move the clothes around - kind of even out the load and try again.

My Maytag top loading washing machine mdl#LA412 shakes violently on spin cycle with no clothes in it, a mechanic leveled the feet but it still vibrates bad. Any suggestions please!!

The ground under one of the feet may have collapsed.
The drum may be loose.
One of the springs that support the drum may have broken.
Check the machine by just trying to wobble it on it's feet, this way you can tell if it is firmly on the floor. check that the machine is level
Look down on the drum against the body and see if it is central to the frame and just get hold of the rim and try to give the drum a shake and see if it is loose, these machines always shake a bit because of the design, they are normally used in nursing homes etc in the uk
