tried to install from cd, to no avail. Program will not install from run command. Went to hp online and installed from latest update, but when I plugged in the printer to finish it would not install the rest of the program.

Ok well i tried what pugsrule suggested but it didn't work for me but im sure it would work because i did something similar. when i connected my printer, drivers didnt auto install so i went to control panel, printer, then add printer. from there i searched for windows update on printers and found my printer which is the same one as yours the 1510 one...and it installed the drivers needed for vista and it works fine for me now :)

Neddybear, turn on your laptop, then plug a usb cable from it to the printer. Turn on the printer and the drivers should download automatically.

Can`t print with HP PSC 1510 All-in-one in win. Vista

I would check to see if HP has Vista drivers for your printer.
tip

Which Windows Vista Edition are you?

If you are upgrading XP to Vista, make sure you backup and have the program "Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor"

Download Windows Vista Upgrade Advisor:
http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details.aspx?FamilyId=42B5AC83-C24F-4863-A389-3FFC194924F8&displaylang=en

Be Sure to Backup with a removable media such as CD's, Floppy Disks or USB Flash Drives, External Hard Drivers.

Windows Vista Editions:

Windows Vista Home Basic
Windows Vista Home Premium
Windows Vista Business
Windows Vista Ultimate
Windows Vista Starter
Windows Vista Enterprise

These also include 64-bit.

Lastly, if you have XP and if it's Vista Capable, you don't need to use the upgrade advisor, you are allowed to use any, but you must download the drivers after upgrade.

Using multiple HP printer models with same Windows XP laptop

I doubt there is a universal driver , however you could connect directly to your pc or via a router and share it over your home /business network, and access it them that way

Upgrade vista home premium

As per my knowledge, there is no version of Vista called Vista Professional like in Windows XP.
Make sure what is the version to which you want to upgrade to from Vista Home Premium to Vista Business or Vista Ultimate.
The available versions of Vista Operating Systems along with the features supported from the Link below :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/compare-editions/default.aspx

However, if you want to Upgrade the current version of Vista to a higher version like Vista Business or Vista Ultimate, you need to purchase Vista Anytime Upgrade kit from any retail store or directly from Microsoft.
You can find the required information related to Anytime Upgrade Kit from the link below :
http://www.microsoft.com/windows/windows-vista/get/anytime-upgrade-overview.aspx

However, make sure that you had created the Recovery Disks for your notebook using which you will be able to reinstall the preinstalled Operating Sytem along with all the Preinstalled Applications and Drivers after which you need to use the Vista Upgrade Kit to upgrade to higher version of Vista.
However, if you are currently having a 32 Bit Vista preinstalled in the Notebook, it is not possible to upgrade to a 64 Bit Vista since you can upgrade only a 32 Bit of Operating System to a higher version of 32 Bit Operating System and a 64 Bit Operating System to a higher version of 64 Bit Operating System.
Hope this helps....

Hp psc 1510 all in one printer installation failure using Vista

Hi,
The only thing I can say try to find a solution with vista, perhaps there might be a problem.
Did your printer ever worked with vista?
When I have a problem, I always reinstall the lot.
Also vista perhaps that need a upgrade too.
My computer was bought with vista and I did have problems installing with the CD-rom, but vista installed it for my and now it works...

I also like to ad, that following the instructions did get me no where...for the all in one HP printer.

I hope this will help some how, I had a chat sesion with a operator and he was quite helpfull and solved my problem online in no time.
Just go to the website and ask/look voor a chatsesion under problems.
good luck

Upgrading windows xp to vista

You can upgrade from your current edition of Microsoft Windows XP or Windows 2000 to a corresponding or better edition of Windows Vista by purchasing and installing an upgrade copy of Windows Vista.
While selecting the edition of Windows Vista that's right for you, it's important to clearly understand what hardware your PC will need to ensure the features you want will run reliably.
