Our dryer went out in the freezer and an odor developed. Even after replacing the dryer and cleaning every part that I was able to get to, my ice smells fishy and the fridge side does too. Bottles and cans get the odor on them and then the smell is on my hands. Our tap water has no odor, so I assume it is something in the refridgerator/freezer. Any clues?
Unplug first. You will need to clean the inside of the refrigerator and the freezer with a good cleaner and warm water. After this you need to remove the rear panel in the back of the freezer and spray water with Clorox on the evaporator coil and pour some of the solution down the defrost condensate drain to disinfect and remove the odors that drain down that hole to be evaporated and returned to the air in your home. That should take care of the fish smell, Please rate my solution, Thanks, Sea Breeze
