Re: my trouble of my ps2
Try to move the laser forward-back, if you have the unit open it's a
good idea to perform some routine cleaning, preferably using a can of
air, and check for areas such as the worm drive, and guide arms that
may need re-greasing, as these parts can affect the operation of the
console if they are dry. if it not work, there is two switch are used
to runing laser. 1-eject switch ,2-loading switch. see on pictuce
Sometimes that switch has bad connection, you may need to spray it with contact clean, then press it manually. You can call SONY support at 1-800-345-7669 for repairing.
Pls post back should you need additional information. Hopefully this helps.

You shouldnt have too. I think I know the problem. Turn on your ps2 without a game in it and it would take you to the home screen. After that go to browser with your ps1 memory card and select it. And then it should give you an option to format it. Hope this helps
I know, this is very annoying. Mine is SCPH-79001.
Just put in the game like you would any game (that would read) and you should hear a few ticks. Turn the ps2 horizontly with the front facing you. And whenever you hear a tick, just tap it against you knee, then you should hear it spinning.
My ps2 wouldn't read GH world tour or metallica, but know it works. Hope I helped
You cannot connect a usb hardrive or anything for that matter unless you "soft mod" the ps2 you need a pro action repaly and the usb stick that comes with it and you need to put certain installtion files on the stick with your computer.
There were two versions of the multi-tap made; one for the original fat
PS2 and a smaller version made for the slim. The two versions are
incompatible with the other PS2. If you have the original multi-tap
connected to the slim, it should throw out the 'controller
disconnected' message when you boot up. The slim version of the
multi-tap should have a sticker on the bottom saying 'only works with
models SCPH-70000, SCPH-75001, SCPH-75002'.
Other than the sports games, I don't recall any titles that allow more than two players anyway.
