Keeps stopping The machine often struggles to get started after pressing 'start'. I can hear a relay click, the motor starts up but immediately the relay clicks again and the motor stops. Keeping on pressing the button will usually eventually get it started but then it usually stop again after anything between 2 and 40 seconds. I have found a work-around by holding the button in. The machine carries on stopping but is restarts straightaway. I have found that once its gets warmed up the problem more-or-less goes away although we do still get the odd unexpectedly halt every now and again. My wife hates it, wants to bin it and never wants to see a Miele again. But it's only four years old and is a top brand so I am reluctant to do so. Nonetheless we can't carry on like this. Miele won't talk to me until I pay them an extortionate call-out fee and I am concerned that fixing it will cost me more than buying new. Would be very grateful if you can help. Hi thereMiele T494CStarts ok, but when starts the anticlockwise tumble the circuit breaker trips? What can I do to repair?

This relay is a starting device that works by supplying current to the motor's starting coil. Once motor has gained sufficient speed (the threshold speed}, this current naturally reduces to click the relay off and allowing only the "running" motor coil to take over. Now if the motor suddenly slows down, below the threshold speed, the start switch locking relay also drops out and you must press the switch again. So why may the speed begin to reduce? Possibly the drum bearings need lube or adjustment or the motor is just getting worn down or your power source is lower voltage than required (also look at wire size leading to wall outlet). Try to find one of these as your problem first. Just curious, do you have the same problem with no clothes in dryer? If not, then focus on ..if you do, then focus on [drum bearings need lube or adjustment or the motor is just getting worn down]. If you do, then focus on [our power source is lower voltage than required (also look at wire size leading to wall outlet).]

Starting problems

Press the gas pedal 2 or 3 times the moment when panel lights are open and you hear a small noise [that noise is that fuel is going to the motor] before turning the key to turn on the machine.
I think this will solve your problems!

Piaggio X8 No longer starting.

hi david.
If there is a clicking sound when pressing the starter button that is indicative of a bad starter relay, a fairly common problem problem with Aprilia scooters.
sounds like the starter to me, if you pull off your belt case you should be able to turn the engine from there to make sure its not siezed, if its pulling more than 5amps then the starter motor is likely siezed, dont keep trying it as this could result in the wiring overheating, 0.6 ohms is a decent reading for a ground connection, if you connect your volt meter + from the battery + connection to the starter + connection with volts selected try to start it, the reading you will get will be the voltage being lost between the battery and the starter it should be low, eg less than 1 volt dropped, if not look for poor connections.

Keeps stopping

which type of generator had an Olympian GP18 which would start and stop immediately, we were suspecting that the emergency switch had been pressed and left on but it so happened that the starter relay was the one loose.

I have an Electrolux EWD1477. I have been away for four months and I'm having problems with it. I set to do the quickwash30 program and press start, you hear the clicks, it might put some water in then...

My EWD1477 was doing this a year ago and I fixed it. Then it started doing it again a month ago and I seem to have cleared it again.

Firstly, remove the drain hose from where it is inserted into a laundry sink hole to make sure it is not blocked or sealed in with sludge.

Secondly, make sure the machine is empty of water and clothes and then turn the machine to off with the Program Selector Dial. Then turn off the power at the socket and remove the power plug and leave for five minutes.

Step 1: put the plug back in and turn the power back on.

Step 2: turn the selector switch to the right (Whites/Intensive). The green light of the Start/Pause button should be flashing and the green lights on for Prewash/wash, Rinses and Spinning. Don't press any other buttons or change any other settings.

Step 3: press the Start/Pause button and wait for the machine to empty any excess water. Press it again immediately after you hear water flowing into the machine OR two audible clicks. The machine is now in pause mode with the green light of the Start/Pause button flashing. Only the green light on the Prewash/Wash button should be on. Leave it in pause mode for 30 minutes and then press the Start/Pause button to recommence the cycle.

Step 4: If the Start/Pause button begins flashing, water stops flowing into the machine and the three green lights mentioned above are back on, turn the Program Selector Dial back to off, wait 10 seconds, and repeat the process above.

Step 5: If when you then turn the Program Selector Dial to Whites/Intensive and hear the two audible clicks, immediately press the Start/Pause button to set the machine in pause mode. Wait 30 minutes. Then press the Start/Pause button to recommence the cycle.

Hopefully the cycle will run without a problem.
