Will not playback get error message Please Check Disc

My DVD-R130 appears to be recording then when I stop it and try to playback the disc, I get the error message that says THE DISC CANNOT BE PLAYED PLEASE CHECK THE DISC. Then sometimes it will not record, it will appear to be recording for about 7 seconds then it just stops and turns off. This model is under a year old. Please help. Thank You.

My DVR20KB has suddenly stopped playing and recording on DVD, I get the message Please eject the disc.Playback feature may not be available on this disc. What has happened and can it be corrected?

It could be dirt or finger marks on the disc. Try recording with a good new clean disc.
It's unlikely the current disc will play or can be used again. Have a look at the disc with it catching a light source. If there is any marks on the disc it's gone!

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, try to clean the lens using a CD disc cleaner. Additionally, verify that your blanks are either DVD-R or DVD-RW.

Unsupported discs

Hi there

I think your DVD Player could have been damaged while it was in storage, this sounds like there is a problem with the lens (laser), i am going to suggest that you take it to a repairman and ask him to fix it or buy a new laser for your DVD Player attempt to fix it yourself.

If your DVD player is still under warranty, you should take it back to the retailer and have it repaired or refunded.

This could also be caused by "un-married" Player and Disc, if you bought the DVD Player in one country and bought the DVD's in a different country, this could also cause the problem. If the DVD's are copied, that could also cause it.

Thank you for using FixYa. Have a nice day and please remember to rate this solution as 5692f33.png if it helped you.

Kind regards

Sylvania dvr90vf dvd recorder

Unfortunately without a firmware upgrade the only disks you can use are DVD-R or DVD-RW. The tricky part is that you can ONLY USE 2X speed. Per my conversation with Sylvania there is a firmware update that will allow you to use up to 8x disks, but they are charging $17.00 for it.

SAMSUNG DVD R120 error EC:0207

I had exactly the same problem -- error message of "This disc can be neither played nor recorded. Please check the disk [EC:0207]" after the machine had been working fine for a year. I downloaded the latest firmware from the Samsung website, burned it to a CD-R disk (took three tries until the DVD Recorder recognized the disk -- worked when I used Rocio CD Creater software), then loaded the firmware updates to the DVD Recorder. On the Samsung website you can retrive the firmware update instructions as well. I had to perform the firmware upgrade several times until it successfully updated both the system firmware as well as the disk firmware. After successfully updating both, the Recorder now recognizes the DVD-R disks and I was able to resume recording. I have however, noted some choppiness with the playback of the newly recorded disks. Other than that, the firmware upgrade successfully resolved the problem.
