AVAYA Phone System: Lucent Partner Mail

Had a tech out to fix the phone lines from Avaya. Now the pre-programmed buttons on the phone to tranfer to voicemanil and for individual extensions no longer work. How do I re-program these?

I looked up the answer on AVAYA and through online manuals, but the instructions listed (Feature 14 and Transfer 14) wont work. They bring up an ERROR message.

Right, but to get to the Admin area, you need to log into the system administrators mailbox. That will need to be reset before you can change the AA greeting.

You can contact dstech1.com, they will reset for $55 (with a credit card). Or you can call Avaya, they will reset for $300

Since power outage phone lines do not ring - only to receptionist

Your system lost its programming. It will need to be reprogrammed completely. The lines are ringing on the extensions where I voicemail is, unplug voicemail and at least lines will ring in correctly.

Lucent Partner Mail VS - need cordless phone

Each of the modular jacks at the cabinet will accept a single line telephone. I don't think you can "bridge" a phone on 12 year old software, but if there is a spare jack, it will work with a plain old cordless phone. Plug one in, dial 10, and read what extension you have. Here's a manual for a 4.1 Partner system to help you program the ringing. Programming is done from the display phone at extension 10 or 11.

http://public.carl.airpost.net/Avaya/Partner_ACS.pdf

After you find the extension, save yourself the trouble and go to page 447 of the attached pdf. It details how to set the Automatic line preference and ringing of the cordless. The difference is that you will select your lines AFTER the intercom as in ** LIC RIC 1 2 3 4, or 4 3 2 1. This is important! You'll then be able to dial "9" to get an outside line in forward or reverse order and still call internally.

If you find you don't get an outside line when you dial "9", then keep reading the manual, you need to put your lines in groups.

Nope. You are stuck with that. If you want you can change the button that they press, to say....9 or something...make that a selector code transfer and it wont say "receptionist" any more.

Let me know I can help change the button press....

Avaaya partner system

It sounds like you are trying to change the voice mail recordings or at least the names programmed into the system.

Your phone model can be used on several different Avaya phone systems with different software versions and different voice mail options. You will have to determine exactly which system you have and the voice mail before starting to attempt this. Look for model numbers on the main control unit.

All the manuals are available for free at the Avaya web site www.avaya.com but you will need to first know what you are looking for.

You may find it easier to hire a local phone installation company that is familiar with your system to make the changes, but taking a look at the manuals doesn't cost anything, so give it a try! If you feel like you're over your head... take care not to make changes you are not sure of because you could end up making it worse. Just don't try things if you are not pretty sure that is the area you want to change.

WE NEED HELP TO FIX OUR PHONES

This can be very complicated! You may need to get a local installation company to come in and help you out. It sounds like the memory battery in your system is bad and needs to be replaced or this will just keep happening to you.

Your phone can be used on one of several different Avaya phone systems and you can have different voice mail systems also. You need to figure out which phone system and voice mail you have. All the manuals are available at www.avaya.com but if you have never dealt with programming this system before it will be a big task to learn it.
