Pfaff Coverlock 3.0 serger: in changing needles to positions A and B.....B needle won't tighten enough to hold needle in place. What might I be doing wrong or not doing?

your needle bar has been pushed up and is out of adjustment. You need to take off the side cover, there should be a screw on the back of your machine holding it on. Remove this screw, and remove the cover.You may have to remove the light assembly to reach the screw on the needle bar. Once you can see the needle bar, rotate the handwheel until you can see the screw on the needle bar. Loosen this screw SLIGHTLY until you can turn the needle bar. Hold and rotate the needle bar back and forth as you push down slightly. This will lower the bar.Lower it about 1/4 inch. Adjust the needles by turning the bar so that they are straight across. Tighten the needle bar screw so that the bar doesn't move. Turn the handwheel to see if the threads will be picked up. If not, adjust until they are. Tighten the needle bar screw tightly,reinstall the side cover ,and tighten the screw. Change your needles.Rethead and sew.

There are two holes running vertically inside the needle arm.........the needles are held firm by very small screws or hex allen keys.........they may have worked loose over time, if they have fallen out and been lost, it is a call to your  local Pfaff dealer for advice......be sure to quote model number.
Your User manual may have a diagram to assist.

Have you ever changed the needles since buying this machine ??
Needles ought to be changed every 6 - 8 hrs of sewing, and more often with heavy or abrasive fabric.

SOURCE: Needle holder fell off of machine

there should be an allen screw on the back side of the needle bar clamp push it up and on and make sure its as stright as you can get it and tighten down on the allen screw

SOURCE: Serger won't chain off a stitch. Stitches won't chain and hold to fabric. Added new needle, rethreaded whole machine. Stitches won't connect to fabric or make a chain.

is it possible that the needles are in backwards?
it's very possible that the machine is out of time & would have to be taken to a sewing machine repair shop to be retimed

Perhaps you have overly loosened the screw. Try tightening it back a bit. Sometimes when it is overly loosened it changes the angle in the needle clamp space.

Pfaff coverlock 3.0 serger. Left needle is hitting the stitch plate. The stitchplate needs to move slightly....how can I do that
If the left needle is closer to you than the right, you probably need a new needle clamp. Remove the needle plate and set the tip of the lower looper behind each needle and check to see if one needle is closer to the looper than the other one. If it is, have an authorized dealer replace the needle clamp. If they say you have to have a new needle bar also, that may well be true since a newer version of the needle clamp requires an updated needle bar.

No worries. One needle is always lower than the other. Just make sure when installing that the needle is pushed as far as possible before the screw is tightened.

Pfaff 1467 needle jammed in fabric and hand wheel stuck
Be sure to unplug the machine.
Loosen the screw that holds the needle in place (even though the needle is still stuck in place) and try moving the handwheel so the needlebar will raise to its highest position.
Try to remove the bobbin case from the machine. If the thread is tangled, you can try snipping (patiently and carefully) with small scissors and removing the loose threads with tweezers. Do NOT yank! Just keep working until the thread knot becomes loose enough to actually remove the bobbin case and the needle.

Why does the left needle thread on my pfaff coverlock 4862 break
The top thread breaks
1. the needle thread is not threaded properly
2. The needle thread tension is to tight
3. The needle is bent or blunt
4. The needle is incorrectly inserted
5. The needle thread & the bobbin thread are not set under the presser foot when starting to sew
6. the threads were not drawn to the rear after sewing
7. The thread is either to heavy or to fine for the needle
8. Try a different spool or cone of thread

The needle in the C slot of my Husquavarna 936 won't stay in
Make sure you have backed out the screw almost all the way, grab the needle with a pair of needle nose pliers and push the needle up with "gentle" force to make sure it's up all the way. When you tighten the screw without a needle in the hole (when 3 thread sewing) the screw makes an indentation inside the needle hole. That indentation stops the needle from reaching it's upper most position. By "gently" forcing the needle up in the holder all the way, you correct the opening for the needle by breaking out that tiny imperfection. Your needle screw then can hold the needle correctly.

PFaff 4862 just quit - What should I look for? I was sewing - it just quit. Unplugged and replugged, changed to a different outlet, opened and closed the little door - would not start. Waited a while. Would not start. The light does not come on. It did run for a bit, but quit again. Could there be a broken wire in the foot pedal, that door switch, or the on/off switch? Help!!
