Hi, im using a toshiba Satelite L300 with a built in webcam, it worked correctly untill i formatted my laptop but now the camera doesn't even switch on & i don't have a software disc for it. Plz help me!

Have you upgraded the OS? Try a restore to a date before this issue. OR a Recovery.

You need the driver for the webcam to work. Toshiba did not have the webcam driver listed separately for download. You may find it in the toshiba drivers for update to windows 7 here http://www.csd.toshiba.com/cgi-bin/tais/support/jsp/bulletin.jsp?ct=SB&soid=2476028&ref=EV

***However first do READ which laptops the drivers are for and make sure it includes yours! They are not for older laptops. There's two versions to download. There's a link on the page above to read before downloading and installing the toshiba drivers. Not every thing will run under windows 7 yet*****

Unfortunately it is not uncommon for toshiba's laptops to out live the built in webcams....

The L300-ST2501 and the L300-ST3502 are built with Webcams and there IS a microphone built into those webcams.

The L300D-ST3501 and the L300D-ST3503 are NOT built with webcams or microphones.

that is the good thing about Toshiba they keep drivers for all their laptops even ones that would now be over 12 years old

Hi, there are many ways on how to use your built-in camera. One is, you will be needing a third party software inorder to use the camera feature of your computer e.g easycapture software. You can use yahoo messenger and chat with your firends that ha a webcam. All you need to do is to invite them to view your webcam so that you will see each other while chatting. You can also use this link to take pictures of you.

If you have your CDs that came with the laptop try reinstalling the webcam driver. You could also try retoring your computer to a date you know the camera worked. If you don't have the CDs, you may be able to download the driver on line.

I have same issue! In you-tube, initiating my built-in web-cam, causes Firefox to crash every time. Registry is clean. Uninstalled Flash, and reinstalled. HELP??

You should be able to use the built-in windows application. It is located in the Control Panel under Scanners and Cameras. Just double-click the icon for your camera.
