Hi...

You can locate the battery in the motherboard. Open you CPU casing you can see there a battery which is a circle shape that is located in South Bridge of the motherboard.

Good luck!

Bios password

What seems to be the problem? Please provide more information about the issue. There's no other person who knows the password of your BIOS except you. To bypass the password, reset the CMOS battery. What is the model of your computer? The CMOS battery's location differs in each model.

I forgot my sony vaio bios password

Remove the battery, remove the power cord and start taking the laptop apart. You will need to remove the CMOS battery located on the motherboard and let it sit for an hour or two. Then but it all back together. The CMOS battery is a silver battery about the size of a nickel.

Can you tell me where the cmos battery is located on my sony vaio laptop model PCG-384L; VGN-FZ140E

If it is not where you can see a slot on the side or back, I would bet it's under the keyboard. The Sony support page may have the answer.

Default bios password of sony vgn-ux280p

This information is intended for experienced users. It is not intended for basic users, hackers, or computer thieves. Please do not try any of following procedures if you are not familiar with computer hardware. I'll not be responsible for the use or misuse of this information, including personal injury, loss of data or hardware damage. So use it at your own risk.

A. By Using the Motherboard Jumper:

In most motherboards CMOS battery is soldered, which makes it difficult to remove the battery. In this case we use another method.

Almost all motherboards contain a jumper that can clear all CMOS settings along with the BIOS password. The location of this jumper varies depending upon the motherboard brand. You should read your motherboard manual to check its location. If you don't have the manual then look for the jumpers near the CMOS battery. Most of the manufacturer label the jumper as CLR, CLEAR, CLEAR CMOS, etc.

When you find the jumper, look carefully. There will be 3 pins and the jumper will be joining the center pin to either left or right pin. What you need to do, is remove the jumper and join the center pin to the opposite pin. e.g. if the jumper joins center pin to left pin, then remove it and join center pin to right pin. Now wait for a few seconds and then again remove the jumper and join the center pin to left pin.

Make sure to turn the PC off before opening the cabinet and resetting the jumper.

B. By Using Software:

I have found that BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is the most effective.:
BIOS/CMOS Password Recovery Tool is a program that works instantly to remove any lost or forgotten BIOS/CMOS password. Simply boot your PC to DOS and execute the program, and get access to forgotten BIOS/CMOS passwords in just seconds

Locate and change cmos battery

Turn your computer off and unplug it. Next take the cover off exposing the keyboard. Then in the lower right corner (or somewhere near it) there will be a round silver looking battery. That is your cmos battery. There should be a spot where you can pop the battery out. Then put your new battery in and you are ready to go.

Cmos battery on a Sony Vaio Laptop VGN FE31M

It should be located somewhere on the motherboard wich means pulling the computer completely apart which unless you know what you are doing may be a little difficult for some, but not inpossible.

SONY VAIO CMOS BATTERY LOCATION

Correction...

The CMOS battery is located under the system board, and is not accessible from under the keyboard.

The keyboard has to be removed in order to change the CMOS batter, (another reason why I don't like Sony laptops.)

Below is the batter I just pulled from a user's VGN-FS660\W 892cbd5.jpg
