Sounds like it might be the 'feed dog' the spiky plate under the foot - this drags the fabric thru - it may either be worn away or some machines you can shift it up or down

Even if not your particular model, basic machine threading is very similar from one to another. Just be sure to ALWAYS RAISE the presser foot when threading the top thread---and change the needle often.
If the spring doesn't revolve easily while it catches the thread it may be. To see what the shape should look like you can go to Ebay and type in "Necchi 3205fa sewing machine tension control". This should give you some very nice photos. You may even want to purchase one from Ebay and replace the one you are having problems with.
Could be threaded wrong - check manual for proper threading
Needle could be bent - check and replace if needed
Needle plate could be damaged - see if any burrs are on it if so take to service dealer and have removed
Bobbin could be wound wrong - check manual
Bobbin could be bent - if so replace.
