2004 Sedona Front brakes making noise

My brake pads and rotors are in serviceable condition. Brakes are NOT squealing, but are making this loud groaning noise when rolling slowly and coming to a stop. I have to pump the brakes to keep the noise down. The noise is not constant (comes and goes). Can someone help?

It sounds like it is in the pads and rotors they might be in servicable condition but if they have ever gotten hot they can start making noises and make stopping a little bit harder.

Brakes make a whistle noise when applied and sometimes a low grown or grinding when coming to a slow stop or start.

A grinding or rumbling noise can also be symptoms of a wheel bearing or constant velocity joint in a driveshaft. A worn wheel bearing can also cause a 'whistling' sound (as can a worn CV joint).

A grinding noise with brakes is either worn pads causing metal to metal contact on the brake disk/rotor, or the brake backing plate catching on a spinning rotor ... or a loose/missing anti squeal brake shim (they stop the pads from rattling and vibrating).

However, as you say a mechanic has looked at the brakes and can't find anything wrong .. I think I would begin to suspect a wheel bearing or constant velocity joint on the driveshaft (front wheel drive cars).

Just had front brakes done but still hearing squealing from brakes do you no why this would be

Squealing from brakes when applied (and sometimes even when not) is a common issue with many vehicles. There are a number of reasons for it, most often it is the brake shoes/pads themselves. Most manufacturers today install ceramic brake pads as OEM parts, but due to their cost, most drivers opt for semi-metallic pads when replacing them. Most manufacturers recommend anti-squeal shims and/or compound be applied to brake pads for disc systems, but they are often ignored and not installed. Older, sticky calipers can also cause poor release of brake pads, resulting in drag and noise. Lastly, worn, warped, and thin rotors can add to noise issues. Having well serviced, quality brake parts and using proper installation techniques will usually remedy brake noise issues. Just as a side note, residual dirt and grease from the installation itself can cause noisy brakes for a few days/weeks after first install until it is worn off and the pads break in. If you have issue beyond the first two weeks, and you have had them installed professionally, take it back and have them verify that the pads were installed properly.

Squealing at the right front wheel

The brake lining's have worn away, the squealing was metal to metal (worn pad against metal disc) The worn pad will have damaged the brake disc. Very dangerous. You will now have to have new brake pads and discs fitted to BOTH front wheels to put it right. Good luck

Clicking sound and squealing brakes

Hi,Front brake pad worn out. This noise comes from the wear sensor rubbing against the rotor. Replace brake pad
- Presence of dirt or scored rotor.
- Dust plate bent and touching rotor.

05 neon making squealing noise while driving. the noise stops when brakes are pushed

inferior pads or improperly installed. it could be that they just need to conform to the disc and the sound will go away, but you should find out that everything else is ok. if you got one of those brake jobs with a lifetime warranty, then its definitely because of the pad material.

New brakes installed, left front wheel squeaking loudly.... Worse than before

Did you replace the rotors when you did the brakes? Old rotors will have a ridge the the new pads will ride on and squeal. Second, it is possible that the caliper is hanging up. That will make your new pads ride the rotor all the time and squeal like crazy. You can either rebuild the caliper, or replace with new. I replace with new myself because the old caliper is probably pitted inside and making it hang up. Good luck.

Squeaking noise when applying the brakes, have had the brakes serviced and cleaned 6 times, and still have noisy brakes.

its sounds like the shims where not installed on the brake pads like they should of. or the pads are glazed from overheating

Sharp squeaking from rt rear wheel. Might be a bearing but it stops if i apply light brake pressure

your rear brakes need servicing!!Those sqeaking noises are from metal pins within the brake pads. They touch the rotor surface when the pads are worn. Usually when brakes are applied they tend to silence the squeal. Inspect the rear brakes for pad thickness. Hopefully this helpd!!

There is a squicky annoying noise coming from the brakes everytime i hit them. it has been going on for like a month now. what could be the solution?

This is most likely a warning coming from your brakes that the pads need replacing.

There is a device in the brake pads which squeaks/squeals when the pad wears doen to a certain point.

The noise will eventually go away, but so will your brakes. It's time to have them serviced.

2005 Dodge Durango Front Brake Squeal

Did you buy factory pads or get cheap aftermarket pads? If aftermarket did you get the ceramic? The cheap aftermarket ones tend to squeal pretty bad. Like the last comment on here, you should have your rotors turned whenever you change the pads.
