After selecting wash cycle,I push start button. washing light comes on for a second then goes off.start light keeps on blinking. washing cycle would not start.

Is the control board displaying any fault codes?

Try disconnecting the power cord to the washer from the wall outlet for 5 maybe 10 minutes...give the control board enough time to power down and hopefully the control board could self-correct itself by resetting. No different than re-booting a computer.

If you still run into the same problem, and if so equipped, try holding down the "end of cycle" signal button for 10 seconds and see if that resets it.

Its normal for the machine to cycle the lock before starting its cycle. I'm assuming your machine is a bravos style.

That could be a problem with the control board, but before anything else try unplugging it from the wall, or turning the circuit breaker off. After turning it back on, see if it still happens. Also check to be sure the door is closing properly.

I have a Whirlpool model WTW4950XW0. Once i push the start button.
The lid locks, sensing lite on, machine goes through its cycle, than lid unlocks
monents later.What wrong. I was doing laundry and notice the machine making some noise on the spin cycle. I push the pause button and remove some clothes.
thats when the sensing lite keeps blinking.

I suspect for either of these units that the timer control boards are bad.

press (high temp-wash) button and then ( heated dry)
do that 3 times in that order within 5 seconds. So it looks like this:

(high temp-wash) ( heated dry) (high temp-wash) ( heated dry) (high temp-wash) ( heated dry)

That will start a short diagnostic cycle (last about 2 minutes) that will clear the blinking light and allow you to use the dishwasher. If the light comes back, your drying cycle has failed and you will need service.

I just read this for the same problem: push sanitize, then heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, sanitize, heat and dry, cancel, then open and close the door. It worked. The dishwasher is running correctly even as I type this. 

I have a very similar problem. When I push a wash selection, every light on the panel shows up...and when I push Start, nothing happens. When I push cancel, it trys to drain, even tho no water is in there any more. Have you ever had an answer to your problem?

I had same problem........push options and select button at same time, hold for 5 sec.......choose option.....machine stuck inbetween cycles.

at least it worked for me!
