GE HOTPOINT MODEL HSM25GFTA SIDE BY SIDE 3 YEARS OLD.
WENT OUT OF TOWN FOR 3 DAYS, WHEN I GOT HOME I NOTICED WATER ON THE FLOOR. THE REAR PARTICLE BOARD COVER WAS WET. I CLEANED THE FREEZER DRAIN WITH HOT WATER AND BAKING SODA, PER THE OWNERS MANUAL. THERE IS A SMALL TRCIKLE OF WATER FROM BEHIND THE CONTROL PANEL AT THE REAR OF THE FRIDGE. THE ICEMAKER AND ATER DISPENSER ARE WORKING.
You did the right thing by trying to clear the drain in the back of the freezer, but it must not have cleared. If the ice maker is not leaking then the only other source of water can be defrosting ice build up on the evaporator coils when it goes through its cycle. You know your drain is clear when water can flow down it. Defrosting your refrigerator completly usually solves this. If it does not, then check to make sure the freezer compartment fan is working, next it may be either your thermostat or timer control. Those are pretty much the only possibilties.
