Panasonic PT-43LC14 lamp will not reset after replace of lamp
I have repeatedly tried to reset the lamp timer by holding down the volume button and the split play at the same time for extended periods of time and have not been able to reset the timer.
The message remains on the screen, but will eventually go away, but the next time the TV is turned on, it is back.

Hi, Turn On tv. While pressing the VOL- button on the projection display, hold down the PIP or SPLIT button on the remote control simultaneously for more than 5 seconds. While TV is on, simultaneously press and hold both the TV's Volume Down button and the remote's PP/Play button for 7 seconds.
This is the procedure for resetting the lamp timer. Have you ever replaced the lamp before? The lamps usually never last 5yrs.
To reset the Lamp timer back to zero
simultaneously press the "down split channel" button on the bottom of the remote and the down volume on the TV for 5 seconds or more. You will get a message on the screen that the time has been reset to zero.
hold the volume down on the TV and press and hold down the MUTE button on the remote control. Be sure to hold both buttons down at the same time and until the red light goes out.
1) Press the POWER button to turn your TV on. Make sure you are set to Cable/TV reception. If the "replace lamp. Reset Lamp timer" notice appears, press "EXIT" on your remote. 2) Press and hold the VOLUME DOWN BUTTON on the TV set (not the remote, the actual TV set) 3) Continue to press and hold the VOLUME DOWN button and press and hold the PIP (Picture in Picture) or SPLIT/PLAY button on your REMOTE control (your are pressing and holding BOTH of these buttons at the same time now). 4) After 5 or 10 seconds (be patient), the lamp serice menu will appear and say your lamp counter has been rest to '0' (zero). That's it, you are all done.
Now, I continue to have the power shut off after a few minutes of play. I think it is a problem with the cooling fan. Damn it all anyway.
