Have you tried pressing the reset button?
My Samsung YP-P3 wouldn't turn on and wasn't recognized by the computer, and none of the troubleshooting guides worked.
But then I just pushed the reset button, waited a few seconds, and tried to turn it on again...
And it worked!
No music, videos, or settings were lost, and everything turned out fine.

Slide the power switch up all the way and hold it there for fifteen seconds or so. This will reset the player. If this doesn't, please reply to this post and we can go from there.

It doesn;t matter if it turns on or not - it only matters if the computer recognizes that something has been plugged in, try one more time: Try this: disconnect the player from the computer, turn it off, hold in the volume + button, and reconnect the player to the computer while holding the volume + button in. Keep holding the volume + button for an additional 5-50 seconds. Windows should eventually go into recovery mode and revive the player- it will pop up a window that says Found New Hardware Wizard.
If your iPod nano won’t turn on or respond
1) Make sure the Hold switch is off.
2) If that doesn’t work, connect iPod nano to your computer’s USB or FireWire port. Your
iPod nano battery might need to be recharged.
3) If that doesn’t work, your iPod nano might need to be reset.

b)Press and hold the Center and Menu buttons for at least 6 seconds, until the Apple logo appears.
4) If that doesn’t work, you might need to restore iPod nano software.
