I am replacing an ignition switch in a boat. I would like to see a wiring diagram of the boat. Apparently the previous owner has the switch wired wrong. When I hook up the battery and hit the switch, the cables to the battery get very hot.

The light fuse on a 1995 Lowe boat with a 30 hp Evinrude outboard motor may be located in different places depending on the boat's wiring and electrical system. However, the most common location for the light fuse is in the boat's fuse panel or in-line with the light wiring near the switch. You can refer to the boat owner's manual or wiring diagram for specific details on the location of the light fuse. If you don't have access to the manual, you may need to inspect the boat's wiring system or consult a marine electrician to help locate the fuse.

I scanned in my owner's manual and have it available if anyone is ... Mine is a '95 1950 Fish n Ski, but I believe it would cover bass boats as well. ... Looks like I'll need to learn about electrical and general boat repair.
I doubt that you'll find one. For the engine
package (harness) you'll be able to find a diagram in the applicable
service manual or on line. As far as the wiring that Caravelle
installed in your boat good luck. My advise is to look at Nigel Calders
book " Boat owners Mechanical and Electrical Manual". Charlie Wing
also wrote a good text. Unless it's been changed by some previous owner
your boat's wiring will be color coded in line with the standards of
the ABYC. Once you know the color code it's fairly simple to figure out
the wiring. At about 12 years your boat is prime for a few electrical
issues.
