Poor radio reception with Jensen VM9512 in 2001 Nissan Altima

Anyone know how to get clear radio reception in a 2001 Nissan Altima with the Jensen VM9512? I installed the proper antena adapter and all other modes function well and sound is great, but in radio mode, the FM and AM reception is extremely poor.

If you used the 2 plug nissan radio harness, there should be a blue wire on there which is the (power antenna) even if your car doesn't have a power antenna, this wire needs to be connect to power on the am/fm amplified ant which is used in many nissan cars.

if the jensen has a blue or a blue/white wire, connect it to one of those. if not, you can always connect it to the red ACC wire. that should solve your reception problem..

hope this helps

Emerson rp 6247 radio AM stations does not come in clear

Try moving the telescopic antenna around in different directions until you get a clear reception. If that doesn't work, try moving the whole unit (radio) to another location. Make sure you are using the tuning knob to switch between stations. Moving it to a different location may be the best thing because the radio antenna may be received in frequency waves from another electronic device (i.e. a television set, another radio or in microwave) which is causing a reception to be poor.

Factory radio reception failing

I would suggest installing what is called a filter capacitor. You can get these at most car audio shops or a electrolytic capacitor rated at 16v or higher and around 30uf (the capacity is not very important) you connect it from the Positive to the Negative on the radio. The idea being a capacitor will allow the A/C current (noise) to pass through to ground without going into the radio and this is usually the cause of poor reception.

Another possible cause could be simple a poor quality antenna, some manufacturers are going cheap on the antennas since most people don't listen to the radio anymore. You could try to screw an antenna off of a different car onto the base on this one and see if that clears up the problem, they are a some-what universal thread.

Radio Problem

There is not an easy answer for this one. Some troubleshooting needs to be done. I have seen the Rockford Fosgate system in many of the newer Sentra's. Try hooking a known working speaker to a nonworking position. This will tell if it is a speaker problem. If the problem persists, this could be stereo or amplifier.
Terrible reception troubleshooting, a bad antenna will give poor FM and no AM. If both have bad reception, this is a stereo problem. You can remove the stereo from the dash, place a small pick tool or screwdriver into the antenna jack and test reception. If the reception problem clears, this is a antenna problem. I have seen car detailers pull the connector from the rear window antenna and forget to plug it back in too.

Poor radio reception

you wanna boast up the radio signal?? There are ant. boasters around, But if your far away from a radio station your radio cant make that weak signal any higher in amplitude. All you would be amplifying is noise or static. Sorry
