SOURCE: asus p5ld2-wm and coroe

Hello akolsen, The first thing you want to do it to reset the CMOS. 1. Turn off the computer and unplug the power cord. 2. Remove the onboard battery. 3. Move the jumper cap from pins 1-2 (default) to 2-3. Keep the cap on pins 2-3 for about 5 to 10 seconds, and then move the cap back to pins 1-2. 4. Re-install the battery. 5. Plug the power cord in and turn on the computer. 6. Hold the DELETE key down during the boot process to bring you into the BIOS setup. If you are not getting any video after this, try unplugging your hard drive. If you still are not getting any video, it could be your RAM. If you have more than 1 stick, pull the ram out and try them one at a time. If you only have 1 stick, try a different slot. And, very important, if you are using two sticks, make sure you are in the yellow slots or the black slots, NOT side by side. Please let us know how this works for you, and if you have any additional concerns. Best regards, nightdiver

SOURCE: To upgrade my Asus Eeepc 4G

I've got the same little EEE as yours. I just did a bit upgrade my little one with a ram DDRII 2GB. That's the most it can go. I asked about the internal HDD, they said that EEE-PC has a built-in one. So, it ended up that I put an internal HDD into a box. That will solve it all. And...OH! I changed WINXP to Linux as well. That saved some space...I believe.

SOURCE: Upgraded Dell Dimension 3100 memory to 2 Gigs - Windows XP fails

Did you add the two sticks with the 512 or remove the 512 and add the two 1gb sticks? Try booting the machine with ONLY the 1gb sticks in.

Your machine supports 1gb modules but they can't be higher than 533MHz. Check that the memory you purchased was either PC3200 (400MHz) or PC4200 (533MHz) and is 1.8v. If you post the part number off of one of the modules I can look it up for you.

SOURCE: change ram from 512 to 1 gig bios cannot read added ram

The original 2 sticks of 256 Mb of RAM gives you a total of 512
Mb of RAM. Two 512 Mb of RAM gives you a total of 1 Gb of RAM.
With two sticks of 512 Mb of RAM are you sure you got a total of 192 Mb of RAM, this is a lot less than the original RAM total of 512 Mb?
Should this be 1920 Mb of RAM?
If this 192 Mb is correct then the RAM modules are either not compatible with the laptop or if the RAM modules are not from the same manufacturer then they may not work together.

Most laptops have video cards that use part of the main RAM for video RAM, that is why the available RAM is less than the installed RAM modules. The amount of RAM the video card grabs depends upon the type of video card and in some cases the amount of video RAM can controlled in the BIOS setting.

MY ASUS 1225B HAS HAD THE HARD DRIVE WIPED IN AN EFFORT TO INSTALL WIN 10. BUT I CANT INSTALL WINDOWS 10. HOW DO I RE-INSTALL A OPERATING SYSTEM ON THIS MACHINE. THE RECOVERY PARTITION WIPED TOO...

The hard drive needs to be formatted and you need to have the boot order set to the 1 usb 2 hard drive in the bios. Also make sure your installation files on the USB aren't corrupt. The USB needs to be formatted before the installation files are loaded on to it.Make sure your laptop is Windows 10 capable.I think it should be loaded with Windows 7 first then maybe upgraded to Windows 10.Here is a link for tools you may need to get Windows 7 on the laptop after having Linux installed......(https://www.asus.com/Laptops/Eee_PC_1225B/HelpDesk_Download/).....Hope this helps

Asus f3j bios mod for upgraded ram

Not sure what you are asking about. Asus site says the motherboard will take DDR2 533/667MHz SDRAM, 2x SO-DIMM socket expandable to 2GB
Which means DDR2 533mhz 1 gig per slot total 2gig
or DDR2 667mhz 1 gig per slot total 2 gig

To enter BIOs press F2 at boot up, but no setting should need to be changed.

They do not have a BIOs update for increasing the memory limits.
BIOs upgrades from first to current are.
BIOS 304
Update new CPU Microcode
System plays wave file and causes garbage sound.
BIOS 305
To fix system cannot do battery pre-charge process when an unknown/failure battery insert.
Support Intel Extend ID CPU:Merom Celeron 530 CPU.
BIOS 306
To fix system cannot do battery pre-charge process when an unknown/failure battery insert.
BIOS 307
Fix System hang at ASUS LOGO on SATA HDD with factory recovery image
Last upgrade date is 2008 7 14

My acer d255-1625 will not post after adding 2 gb ram upgrade. Thought it was bad stick but tried another manufacturer and getting same result. Upgraded BIOS with no change.

The Acer Apsire One series only supports up to 1.5gb of RAM. This includes the onboard 512mb, plus a single 1 gig stick. I have this same model, and had the same problem.

Hi. I wonder if there are any upgrades at all for my e machines m2352. Especially looking at mobo upgrades for more ram so I can run win 7 with it.

Between that processor and the maximum RAM that laptop will take I'm not sure Windows 7 is a really good idea. The consensus seems to be 2 gigs of memory for Windows 7, this will go to 1.2 gigs at max (according to this page).

You could try Windows 7 "starter edition" if you really wanted 7 or there's always that up-and-comer OS Ubuntu, which has a "netbook edition"
(wikipedia has more information if you're interested).

Having said that if you can try it without spending several hundred dollars to see what the performance is like I would say upgrade the memory and try it out to see if the performance is something you can live with. It takes DDR PC2700 SO-DIMM type memory (specs page).

Tosheiba Netbook NB205-N210 2 GIG, upgrade to Windows 7

I personally have not but if you are concerned how it will run, you should be fine, windows 7 is very efficent on resources.
  • 1 gigahertz (GHz) or faster 32-bit (x86) or 64-bit (x64) processor
  • 1 gigabyte (GB) RAM (32-bit) or 2 GB RAM (64-bit)
  • 16 GB available hard disk space (32-bit) or 20 GB (64-bit)
  • DirectX 9 graphics device with WDDM 1.0 or higher driver
These are system specs so if you exceed these then your laptop will run great.

    Hope this helps

Acer Extensa 5620Z will not work with more than 2GB RAM??

parrotheadpc is incorrect in stating "you can only have a total of 2048 mb installed".

the 5620Z accepts 2 x 2 GB SODIMM RAM, the machine boots and shows the full 4 GB in the BIOS.

the full 4 GB works with the Ubuntu x64 installer.

Windows XP x32 goes BSOD on startup.

Windows 7 x64 install from DVD fails with same BSOD error.

conclusion: this is a Windows-Extensa 5620Z incompatibility that would require a fix by ACER at the BIOS level.

question: there may be specific memory modules 2 x 2 GB which do work--anyone have it work with Windows?

Is 1 gig of ram enough memory to support vista to run?

Hey there you want to use vista?? lol good luck. You need a min of 2 gigs ram to run vista but should ideally have 4 gigs for good operation. vista is a memory hog. You can change the configuration to use less but still need at least 2 gigs
