Will not connect to the internet

Initially took calling Netgear to get the router to connect. Upon restart of the system, the connection was lost. Called Netgear again, spent 12 minutes waiting before I hung up. When I finally reached someone, he was convinced my modem is bad but it works perfectly without the router. Gave up after 20 minutes. I'd really like to have web access for my laptop but can't get the router to work.

Your router may need to have the firmware updated, or it needs to be reset or unplugged for 10 seconds to reset it.
You can set up a home network and make sure all settings are set to automatic

The router is running fine all hook ups are fine changed the wireless card took that to a computer place and it was running fine at the shop when I got the pc home unable to access the internet even though...

The cable internet is not "seeing" the computer. The router is blocking it. That is why it works if you plug it into the modem directly. How to solve this is to turn everything off and unplug power to modems and routers for 3-5 minutes. Then replug in routers. Then restart computers.

That is why it worked at the computer store. Everything was shut down and restarted.

Also, sometimes it is necessary to call the ISP (for example Comcast) and have them re-send the signal. Also going to Control Panel Network Connections and choose "repair the connection" will reset the signal.
Be patient it will work.

Router Suddenly stopped working...?

try power cycling your network (turn off all of the hardware)
First turn off the computer,
second, the router;
lastly the router (wgr614).

Now, turn the hardware in this order:
  1. Turn on Modem. Wait 2 minutes.
  2. Turn on Router (wgr614). wait 1 minute.
  3. Now turn on the Computer(s).
this should refresh your internet connection. If not, check your routers settings for any wrong info.
to access your router's homepage, type this (http://www.routerlogin.net) into Internet Explorer.

Netgear Wirless Router

You need to make sure your internet is still working. Its possible the storm caused some damage to the dsl line

Can you plug a normal broadband modem in and connect to the internet?

If you can, then try unplugging your router and plugging it back in, give it a few mins to boot up and try again (if you havn't tried this already)

If still no luck you'll have to do a master reset and set your router back up and try that, however at this point I'd guess the storm killed your router.

If you havn't got a broadband modem that plugs strait in, then ring your ISP and ask them if they've had any problems thier end.

hope this helps
