Yea its a convergance issue. I'm more familiar with the sony bigscreens. The convergance amplifier number for that one is STK392-120. The schematics show that your tv has two of them.
Go here for a service manual: http://www.eserviceinfo.com/downloadsm/31487/Philips_DPTV305.html
You will see a window that says file information, at the bottom you will see something that says multipart 0 1 2 3 4. You need to download all of those files. you will also need WinRAR to unzip them. You can download a free trial of winRAR.
Once you have WinRAR and the files open part1.rar and it will unzip everything into a 1800 page pdf that is the service manual.
If you have a work copier use that to print the manual or use the pdf search function to locate the STK392-120, or 7044 and 7055. The latter two numbers are the numbers philips uses to identify the chips in their schematics.
I know its a lot of info, but I hope it can help.
I'm pretty sure they are soldered on the board.
PDF Pages
P.26 Shows circuit board locations, SSM board has the convergance amplifiers.
P.28 Shows how to access Service Menu through remote. Check for any error codes listed in those sections. It might not be a problem with the convergance amplifiers. Could be another problem, but error codes will tell you exactly what is wrong.

Check the service menu first for any error codes. Let me know if you have any questions or need any help.
Before you open the TV leave it unplugged for a few hours. There are high voltages in the TV. Also make sure you can avoid static shocks to any of the boards.
