6-disc changer won't work

After changing the battery on my durango, I heard the cd player begin to change the disc when i started the truck. Now it will not eject, come on or allow you to load a cd, but the radio still works fine. (6-Disc in dash changer in a 2005 Durango.) Went to a Chrysler dealership they said " the radio is shot, maybe is was some kind of power surge or just coincidence". I personally think that a power surge strong enough to take out the cd player wuold have taken out the radio as well. Their only soloution REPLACE.

My cd changer kept changing cd on its own. Now my battery is dead. Is the cd player the cause for the dead battery, or did the cd player malfunction because the battery was dying?

With the low current draw that a cd unit uses It would take some hours to affect a good battery. Remove the fuse for the cd unit and have a battery shop check the battery for a bad cell ( Load test on the battery). Pull the cd player and have a tecki look at it as I feel you have 2 faults not connected.

pull clock, radio, cd player, memory and backup cam (if equiped) to reset system. Some systems need to be recoded, not for sure about that system.

We can't get the factory 6 disc cd player to load more than 1 disc. What is the sequence for loading additional discs?

The following is the owner's manual for your 2004 Dodge Neon:

http://www.dodge.com/en/owners/manuals/index.html?year=2004&nameplate=Neon

P.99 describes how to load discs:

1. Select and press any numbered button without an illuminated light above it.
2. Insert the CD while the light above the chosen button is flashing and the two lights on either side of the slot are illuminated.
3. Upon insertion, the CD will begin to play, and both the button light and the lights in the corner of the loading slot will illuminate.
4. Repeat the process for loading any additional CDs. The CD playe rwill stop while additional CDs are loaded.

Playing Discs
The radio will show the CD number, the CD track number, and the Track Time Elapsed while the radio is in the CD mode. IF more than one CD is loaded in the changer, the changer will automatically play the next disc after playing the last track of the current disc.

Wow, that's a lot of typing.
I didn't know the 2004 Dodge Neon had such a nice changer.
Good luck.

Battery died - replaced the battery yesterday but now the 6 disc changer will not operate - radio and clock work fine but it's like it does not even know there is a cd player in the car. every 30 seconds...

I take it the cartridge will not eject
If so press and HOLD eject button insert credit card or similar under cartridge push firmly in and move left/right
This locates micro release switch
Make sure nobody has inserted discs upside down

Cd player quit working after i changed the battery radio still works fine.

kzingraff, I have a similar situation to Craig Waldie. I have a 2005 Durango and the CD player has not worked since I replaced the battery. Just like his 2004, the radio works perfectly, just not able to use the CD player. How can this issue be fixed?
