Question about Maytag Washing Machines

Open Question

Maytag Neptune MAH 6500 has spinning issues. Resistors on the upper right corner of the board r-54,72,23,67,64,58,56,50)have an orange haze but do not look totally burnt. Any idea what is going on?

Your pump, or the hose between the pump and drum, might be clogged.  Could be spare change from unemptied pockets.

There is a short in the door lock (very, very common problem )
Go to ebay and search neptune washers and im sure youll find a site i was selling a kit to repair this. If you cant find it let me know ill look .

there are 2 wires going back to the board. They connect to a blue harness. Make sure their is continuity thru the harness. It connects to 3 out of balance swithches. Also check to see if lock light comes on.

“E3” code – Machine control is attempting to drive the motor but is not seeing any tach response. Visual Check shows motor is not moving. (Locked or Hall Sensor fault.)
Possible causes of ‘E3’ codes: 1. Spin drum stuck – Verify that the spinner moves freely to eliminate this cause. 2. Hall Sensor fails or is loose – When the Hall Sensor fails or becomes dislodged, the control doesn't recognize that the motor is spinning and shuts down. The result will likely be an “E3” code in the worst case, or “SUdS” if it is only getting a partial rpm reading. Check wire harness connector(s) to motor.
Hall Sensor – PCB that is located on the back of the motor that senses motor rpm. It is not a separate part, but rather an integral part of the motor.

Maytag Neptune MAH-1 front load washer won't spin in some cycles I use often. it spins at the end of the cycle and in cycles I do not use often. it spins in the spin cycle when I run that cycle

sounds like the timer is not advancing is certain cycles? timers have contact points that can burn and seize up sticking close and not allowing the next cycle to move

Many of the (early) Maytag Neptune washers had more than their share of problems. So much so, a class action suit was brought against Maytag; and they paid for repairs, replaced washers or provided credits toward new washers. Many of the problems were tied to the control board and "wax motor" door latch mechanism. Maytag charged $300 - $400 and up to replace the entire control board - when the parts on the board can be easily replaced for several dollars.

Anyway, you didn't include the nature of the problem you're having, so it's hard to provide any direction. It is normal for the board to become darker near resistors - but not burnt. Most problems are burnt resistors, triac and transistors - and of course, in my case - the "wax motor" that was responsible for the whole problem in the first place. It reported that the door wasn't locked - so high speed spin never took place. Clothes were wet and took a long time to dry as a result.

Provide as much detail as you can for the best answers. What does it do? what doesn't it do? strange noises? Has it slowly been getting worse? Does it smell? Do you use regular or HD detergent? I know some questions sound crazy - but knowing the answers to them does help!

Hi I have a maytag neptune MAH 9700AWW washing machine it stopped working and tripped the circuit breaker I am an electrician I would appreciate any help with this problem thank you

sounds like a shorted main control board inside in the upper portion of the unit,if it trips the breaker before you can do any functions on the machine,this is a 3phase inverter board for the 3 phase motor and the triacs do short on this board,if you can get it to fire up,then try running the tech sheet diagnostics located inside the units left wall

Maytag neptune model mah 4000 awq has clothes that are wet when done and a small pool of water in the tub (front loader), door locks, motor agitates and spins back and forth, pump hoses are clear, during...

check to see if the door locked is lit up and the door is locked. if it is not locking it won't spin full speed. the last one I had needed a wax motor to lock it and a new control board since the wax motor shorted out the control board

The washer will not spin. A moderate thump was

resistor on control board is burnt out I think it is R14
The board on that one is located in the dryer front upper right corner you will also need io replace the wax motor in the washer door lock

I have a neptune MAH-1 washer, the door locked

if you remove the back console, youll be able to see the "machine controlboard". appro. ha;f way down and favoring the left side of circuit board youll notice a small blue relay cover(MAYBE 3/8"X1/2" in size. well just above that relay cover you see a resistor that will be physically burnt out( a real noticable burn ring around it) if this is the case you need to replace the board as well as the "wax motor" within the latch assy.

Contol panel has gone blank and contol panel is hot on right side

try unpuging for awhile then plug back in if doesnt work need to replace board and panel

Spin issue with first model of washer maytag neptune

I think you have what's known as the "R11 and Q6 Problem".  The quick and costly repair method is to replace the circuit board.  The less expensive way is described at this Web site:  I followed the steps for replacing the R11 resistor and the Q6 Triac on the circuit board and ti solved my no-spin issue.
