My computer seems to fail to boot after a BIOS upgrade

I have upgraded my computer's BIOS from August 08, 2005 release to October 21, 2005 release. My motherboard uses the BIOS from the American Megatrends, Inc. The BIOS file seemed compatible with my MB model because it was specified on the MB manufacturer's website where I downloaded it along with the flash utility Windows version (I upgraded the BIOS through Windows and not through DOS). But after the upgrade, there's been nothing on the screen. But my computer seems running judged through its front light and the sound coming from the CPU fan. I need help!

I can't find the bios flash instructions .how do you flash the bios on my toshiba a35s159

You should check the Toshiba WEB site for instructions to how to upgrade (flash) your BIOS, if you make a mistake you may not be able to repair or recover from your mistake.

I have done BIOS upgrades on a few computers.
If your Toshiba has a floppy drive and you can boot up from this floppy drive then the BIOS upgrade needs to be downloaded to a boot floppy. Then boot up from this floppy and run the BIOS upgrade program. When completed, remove the floppy disk and boot up your laptop.

YOU MUST CHECK THE TOSHIBA WEB SITE AS THESE INSTRUCTION MAY NOT BE APPLICABLE FOR YOUR TOSHIBA LAPTOP.

How to upgrade BIOS in my XW400?

Upgrading the BIOS is an easy task but not recommended unless your computer has a problem which will be solved by a BIOS upgrade.

I assume that you are aware that a failed upgrade may render you system unusable till it is reloaded. Primary cause of a failed upgrade is a power failure so please make sure your PC has a back-up power source in case of a power failure.

The latest BIOS update can be downloaded from this website.

Download the exe file on your desktop and double click on run it. It is to be used on Win XP or 2000.

Before upgrading, check the version of your BIOS. If the version number is same as the one with you are upgrading, it means you have already the latest BIOS and it is not necessary to upgrade. The version number of this BIOS is 3.06 Revision A.

Can I upgrade Vaio laptop bios in Dos?

BIOS upgrades are USUALLY done in DOS. Most times, you need to boot from a floppy or CD that is specific for BIOS upgrade. Some BIOS upgrade software may be apllied through Windows, but this depends on your computer manufacturer.
BTW, if your computer is running ok, DO NOT MESS UP WITH THE BIOS. You may risk ruining your laptop.
IF IT IS NO BROKEN, DO NOT TRY TO FIX IT.

My system will not boot because there is no bios. I have upgraded my bios and it failed when it was upgrading. The computer will not boot at all. I just have a blank screen.

This is not a recoverable scenario. Take the system to a repair shop and ask them to quote a replacement motherboard unless you are savy enough to perform the repair yourself.

Bad bios flash

Hopefully you save a backup copy of the bios before you did the upgrade. If you did then start the upgrade process again and select the original backup copy as the bios file to upgrade. This will put you back where you were before the upgrade.

You need to do a BIOS Upgrade. First get the name of your BIOS when the computer boots up. Then go to the we site and find your BIOS brand and get a version update or upgrade.

Be VERY careful and follow the directons to the letter.

Biostar P4M900-M7 SE BIOS ROM Checksum Error

The bios upgrade procedure stopped at half , leaving the bios corrupted. The computer now cannot do a regular boot procedure, this is the reason why it cannot recognise some device. If you are still able to boot from floppy, you can restart bios upgrade procedure from floppy. Just download floppy version upgrade and re do setup. Even if you do not find latest bios version, just download a floppy upgrade that is working, so that you can restart your machine regularly , and then do the update to latest version.
If you are not able to complete the bios setup, the only way to fix your motherboard will be flashing the CMOS chipset with a chip programmer device that will reinstall bios straight into cmos chipset.
You can have this done at the service point, in this case consider also replacing your motherboard.
