Unplug the range. Wait a few minutes, then plug the unit back in.  Reset the clock per your user manual. A pdf copy of your manual may be available on line at the Magic Chef site or the Maytag site, since Maytag has or had a similar model.

I have a Maytag Gemini double gas range circa 2005. After a power outage, the electronic control panel on the front never came back on. Tried unplugging and plugging back in, no luck. Doesn't respond to...

Try turning breaker all the way off and then back on at breaker box. Do the top burners work? If cook top works and oven display doesn’t have than the clock display board needs to be replaced

Magic Chief "Chateau" double oven,

I just had the top completely off of our Magic Chief, which I love and refuse to part with, to fix a problem with one of the burner switches. I believe if you pry up gently in the crack in front with a blade, i.e. small pry bar or screwdriver, being very careful to not chip the paint, the top will snap loose from the two prongs that hold it in place. Then if you disconnect the cluster of wires going to the burners, which is very easy to do, (they just plug together) and remove one screw holding the ground wire toward the back, you can lift off the whole top and get to all of the good stuff. I find the quality of our old Magic Chief Chateau to be of exceptional quality, much better than I see today and I'm pleased that our burner problem was just loose screws. Good luck.

During the cooking for our Christmas dinner the temperature started declining from the 350 degrees to 280 degrees. We tried the top burner to make sure the stovetop was working and the whole thing shut...

Hi Jane,
Ouch! Sorry about the Christmas dinner. I sounds as though the circuit breaker tripped.
First, find the circuit breaker panel.

1 Check to see if a breaker has tripped. These breakers are double sided because stoves are
240 volt appliances, like the water heater or the house heater. There is a bar that connects
two single breakers together. The breaker will be slightly off center to the other breakers if it is tripped.
2 If it HAS tripped DON'T TURN IT ON YET
3 Go back to the stove and plug it in.
4 Turn on a top burner(not the one that may have tripped the breaker) preferably one that you know works that you don't use very much.
5 Go back into the garage and turn on the breaker.
6 If it goes on OK go back to the kitchen. You have done the first diagnostic test.
7 Check the burner to see if it is getting hot. If it is, turn it to high and then turn on the burner that blew the breaker in the first place. See if it blows the breaker again. If it does not. Turn on all of the burners that you know work. You have now done several Diagnostic Steps that are important.
8 If one of the burners trips the breaker, you have one of the culprets. If not, GREAT.
9 Shut off all of the burners
10 DO NOT TURN ON THE OVEN
11 Open the oven door and look very carefully with a flashlight at the bottom bake heating element. Look at the the entire element. If it blew (similar to when a light bulb blows) you will
find white powder around the hole in it or it will be completely broken, or have bubbles in it. Some indication like that. If so it has failed and must be replaced.
12 There is one other rare possibility, but it would not have blown the breaker. Many ovens have clock baking timers. These timers will, shut down the oven. If someone adjusted the timer and didn't turn the knobs in the exact right position. It will ruin the party shutting down the oven at the worst time. But it won't shut the stove top burners down.
IF YOU HAVE FUSES INSTEAD OF BREAKERS
If you have fuses instead of circuit breakers, Find several of the large cylinder shaped fuses to conduct the diagnostic tests I suggest. They are usually available at home depot.
RARE PROBLEM
One last but very rare occurence with breakers is their specifications sometimes change over a long period of time. If that is the case, they will trip and lower and lower overload levels. Simply Replace.

I hope this helps,
Good Luck
Best Regards,
Mark

The control panel lights do not work nor does the oven. all the burners work fine this is a convection oven with a smooth top Gallery series

Check your main breaker in the fuse panel, it may be partially tripped. Turn the 40 amp breaker off and back on. if the display does not return to the stove, the I would suggest you contact a local servicer.

My smooth top burner will not work

The #1 most likely problem is that you don't have 240 volts to the unit. Your clock and lights will come on but not the burners or the oven elements. Turn off your breaker and then back on. If this doesn't correct the issue...#2 Check your cord and the terminal where it attaches to the stove for a burnt connection, WITH THE POWER OFF!!! #3 Call a technician.

No heat at burners or oven

check your fuse / breaker box make sure you have power (sounds like you dropped a leg of power) make sure breakers/fuse is on/good flip it to off the to on if oven don't work then take a look at the cord to the range check power at the wall then open where cord goes into range check power or you may even find the cord burnt in there if so replace all damaged wires good luck
