SOURCE: handle to raise and lower blade is stuck in the down position

What I do is use some penetrating oil on the mechanism that raises and lowers the saw unit. Usually you will have to raise if a little and then lower and keep doing over until it moves freely. If the unit is rusted you might have to wire brush a little. I dont know what brand or model we are talking about but this works on the DeWalt and Bosch saws that I repair.

SOURCE: bevel locking lever won't tighten

It looks like that handle should be able to pull straight off the end of the shaft once you remove the screw. See this exploded parts view: http://www.makita.com/en-us/Assets/images/Products/_PartsBreakdowns/PB_2703.pdf

My experience with them is that people tend to get frustrated and abandon the lock lever and just run the saw "loose". Scary as it sounds, I've seen it on more than one site.

Anyway, I don't have a fix for you if you can't get the handle off to re-position it.
Makita does have a tech support line if you want to give it a try. Otherwise, you may have to shell out a few bucks to one of their service centers. We used to have a great one in Albuquerque, but it's now defunct. People don't seem to repair tools like they used to...
Locate Nearest Service Center online
or Free technical support center (1-800-4MAKITA)

Good luck, and best wishes...

SOURCE: It's extremely hard to turn the handle to raise

Bosch has a technical bulletin to address this problem, it requires the adding of shim washers under the gear and above the hex nut. If you are still having a problem let me know and I will get part numbers for you.

SOURCE: My KING KC-115C Horizontal metal cutting band saw cuts off track.

I used to work for Doall saw company. While I am not familiar with the particular model you have, I have seen issues like it in Doall saws.
Firstly, If bearing guides are not adjustable, replace them. There should be only about a 32 of an inch play between them (in addition to the thickness of the blade). Secondly, for a prodution horizontal bandsaw you should have the blade tensioned a @30,000 psi. Thirdly, if after that, you are still having problems, I would suggest checking the bearings on your drive and idler wheels for runout (in addition to the condition of the tires).

Im looking for the knobs to adjust the blade on my central machinery t-504 table saw.

Some places are still offering parts. You might even get replacement knobs off the shelf for a different table saw..

The blade on my new skil 3310 won't raise. It came preassembled & has never been used, but the elevation wheel feels locked. I can adjust the angle, but turning the knob doesn't raise/lower blade.

Just as a question and I am not being smart you know that the wheel to raise the blade work counter clockwise.
The other thing you need to check is in your manual here is the part how to adjust the blade for raisin/lowering.
After five hours of operation, the blade elevation/tilting mechanism should be checked for looseness, binding, or other abnormalities. Disconnect the saw from the power source, turn the saw upside down and pull up and down on the motor unit. Observe any movement in the motor mounting mechanism. Looseness or play in the blade raising screw 1 should be adjusted as follows (Fig. 55): 1. Loosen nut 2. 2. Adjust the nut 3 until it is finger-tight against the bracket 4, then back off the nut 3 1/6 turn. 3. Tighten nut 2. The maximum allowable play of the screw rod 1 is 5/32" (4 m). Place a small amount of dry lubricant (such as graphite or silicon) on the screw rod 1 at the thrust washer 5. Do not oil the threads of screw rod 1. The screw rod 1 must be kept clean and free of sawdust, gum, pitch, and other contaminant's for smooth operation. NOTE: If excessive looseness is observed in any other part of the blade elevation mechanism or tilting mechanism, take the complete unit to an authorized service center.

How do I raise and lower the saw,.

if it is a table saw, there is a crank on the front that raises and lowers the blade. there should be another on the side that angles the blade.

Craftsman saw mod # 113-298051

The blade is able to be set to different angles by the handle under the front edge of the table. There is a lock handle to keep the angle set correctly. Loosen the lock handle, press a square (90 degree tool) against the flat of the blade - not the teeth - then lock the blade in place.

I can't raise my table saw blade when I crank the handle

My DeWalt Table saw does this, and for me its cleaning with a air compressor and nozzle. I cand seem to prevent it though. I tried grease on time and it just plugged up faster. I want to try a gravite lube next. To me it seems to be a desiegn flaw and I just clean the spline thead shaft that lowers and raises the blade. So far I just settled into a maintance air spray and it seems to work well enough.

How do you lower and raise the blade on my d364 circular saw

There are typically two adjustments on the saw, both of which operate with a wingnut type of screw/bolt. The one in the front of the saw adjusts the angle of the blade (typically front right hand side of saw) and the second, to the rear right hand side of the blade, adjusts the depth of cut by moving the bed (flat part of the saw on the bottom) up or down.

Need to know how to change the agle on the blade for a protech 10 in table saw

Hi Ron,

You didn't give your model.

Protech is out of business so I could not find a user's guide for you.

The knob on the front that you use to raise and lower the blade also adjusts the angle. Depending on your saw, normally the knob releases from raise/lower mode to angle adjustment by either pulling the knob out and moving it or by pushing a lever to release it and then moving the knob.

Hope this helps. If it does, I'd appreciate a 4 thumbs up. Thanks,

I'm a wife with a do-it-yourself knack. I recently purchased a Ryobi 10 in. BTS211 table saw. I find the manual complicated as far as how to actually use the device. Can you recommend where I can get...

I am a retired contractor.
I have a shop with a 10" table saw.
And I have opinions about safe operation.

For safety, turn saw off when making adjustments.

1) Raise blade:
There is a handle you turn to raise the blade.
If you are cutting 1/2" plywood, then set your blade at 3/4" or a bit more.
Keep blade low and away from hands.
Keep hands high and away from blade.

For 1-1/2" thick 2x4, I usually set the saw at 1" and run the board through, and then flip the board over and run it through again, taking 2 passes to make really thick cuts.

2) Blade angle
There is a second handle you turn to set blade at an angle up to 45 degrees
Angle cannot be set if saw blade is fully raised >> lower blade to half way or less and experiment.
Angle cuts are difficult if wood is not perfectly flat and square, or too long or too short (boy is that helpful ... but cutting angles takes some experimentation)

3) Table Guide
You stand behind power saw to operate
The saw table guide is on left side of blade and clamps across the table
The guide markings show inches >>> these are usually approximate
To set guide for accuracy, measure distance from blade to saw guide, and then clamp guide down.

4) Push sticks push sticks push sticks and other safety stuff
Let me emphasize safety first last and always
A table saw will chop your fingers off in a blink
On the plus side, I hear it doesn't hurt. But OMG.
There is a very strong human instinct to reach in with your hand when working on stuff
Train your mind >> if the saw is running, do not lean or reach into the saw
If a board is stuck >>> turn off the saw and wait for full stop
If you wear baggy clothes of a loose shirt, the saw will grab you and pull you in too fast for you to react
Keep your clothes tight and your arms bare

Always use push sticks or push boards::
673c22b.jpg
Notice the saw blade is set low
Two push sticks are used to assist when cutting short board > one stick holds down the board ahead of blade, the other stick is pushing board through saw.
Keep your hands away from the blade no matter what.
The person stands behind and to the side of the board being cut.
The cut wood is supported by a catch table (in this case there are rollers)

Where to stand
Obviously you stand behind the saw to cut wood, and sometimes with long pieces, you can move in front and pull them through, and sometimes with large plywood you stand kinda back and to the side.

Why not stand directly behind a saw? Because saws throw stuff back.
When 'ripping' a board lengthwise as shown in photo above, if the saw catches the board just right, it will throw it backwards like a spear.

If a board 'binds' the saw causing saw blade to stop, then turn off saw, back up the board, and cut again.

Crosscut guide
The saw comes with a T-shaped guide that fits into a groove.
This is a 'push stick' >>> you use it to cross cut a board, and it lets you stand to the side of the saw blade so things wont flip back on you
When using the cross cut guide, remove the table guide that clamps across the saw, or push the table guide WAY back so pieces don't get caught in a bind and the blade flips up the piece and hits you in the face
Remember, the saw throws everything backwards

The saw is strong and fast, and you are best when traveling slow and without rush around your strong friend.
