Camera automatically zooms when I turn it on and the buttons are not working

  • alysondonnel Aug 24, 2009

none of the buttons are working... When I turn the camera on, it automatically zooms to the tightest setting possible and won't respond to the zoom button, shutter, menu, any button. The camera does turn on and off though. It's just possessed.

Some of those buttons work in combination with the two dials (i.e., setting ISO and white balance, etc.). Hold a buttin down and user the knobs simoultaneously.
If this is not the issue, please describe specifically which buttons are not workin...

Hi, my nikon cool pic 3200, zooms in automatic on

Hello

Thank you for using FixYa for your problem

Zoom has had a knock
Always check the batteries first but if is it still giving the same fault, your camera is faulty.
It should be taken to an authorized repair centre for a repair estimate. Very few digital cameras have any user-serviceable parts.

Please rate our solutions and if you still have problems please call back for more ideas to help you

Thanks

Digital zoom do not work well. automatic zoom work 1/10 time and not very good

Unfortunately digital zoom never works well. It's best to turn digital zoom off in the menu and never use it.
This is for any camera!

Panasonic DMC-FX10 is frozen

Try a manual reset...remove the battery and the card. Press all the buttons. Insert the card and then the battery. See if that works.

Frozen

You have a stuck zoom switch. The fix will require opening the camera, see the following link. This detailed fix is courtesy xscrewdriver (nice job xs).

Olympus Stylus 730 shuts off after few seconds. Battery is fully charged, tried a resetting: no change.

To save battery power, the camera automatically goes into sleep mode and the monitor turns off if there is no operation when the camera is turned on (when the lens cover opens and the monitor is on). No picture is taken even if the shutter button is fully pressed in this mode.
Operate the zoom lever or other buttons to restore the camera from sleep mode before taking a picture. If the camera is left for 15 minutes, it automatically turns off (the lens cover closes and the monitor turns off). Press POWER to turn the camera on.

Zoom malfunction

I had exactly the same problem. You just need to smash once with your hand on the bottom of your camera (it looks that this works for all canon cameras).

FX8 all button frozen

I am not sure if this is a solution. but one time, i turned on my camera when the battery is really drained. usually (when it was broken) it will automatically zoom in. but that certain period when i turned it on, even before it can zoom in, the battery drained and the camera went off. i charged the battery and when i put it back and turned on the camera, it works fine. it is still working fine. good thing i didnt had the repair center fix it, because they charge really high price.

Power zoom function

If you have the difuser on the zoom does not work as it assumes you are at close range. Remove the defuser and try again, good luck , Bob.
