My new canon printer is asking for a button to be pushed so that it can see the wrt300n... how do I make this happen?

When you plugged in the printer and hit the power button the very first thing to come up on the display is language selection. If that didn't happen then you need to call 1-800-OK-CANON and ask them how to set your printer back to factory defaults.

You will find two buttons on your printer.

One for power and the another is a function button.

Push them together at the same time while the printer is on.
In most cases this will move the ink head to the center on the machine in order for you to remove the old ink cartridges and install the new ones. However a different button may need to be used consult the manual in this regard.

The ink cartridges are clipped in, you will need to undo the clip!
Then pull the ink cartridge out, usually upward force applies.

Now once the old cartridges are removed you can install the new cartridges.

Be sure to remove any stickers that are meant to be removed, read the sticker and if it says "remove before use" then remove it.

Insert the cartridge and push them down, then the clip is to be clipped in.

Now to get the ink head to move back to it's lair first try pushing the function button.
If nothing happens then push both buttons together again.

Try this, it will reset your counter.

Power off printer
Hold down STOP/RESET button then Press and Hold down Power button
Keep Power button down and Release STOP/RESET button
Push STOP/RESET button twice
Wait 20-30 seconds - our LED showed Idle
Push STOP/RESET button four times
Push Power button twice
Power off
Next time the printer is started the waste count will have been reset

If you ask for reset of ink levels you can't.You need to turn off the function on printer to show the ink level.On most printers this happen with push resume button and hold it for 5 seconds.The printer shows empty cartridges but it will printing.
If you ask for waste ink tank reset follow this:

1. Press power button while plug in the power cord – green lamp.
2. While hold the power button press resume button twice – orange blink and return to green.
3. Release the power button, Then the PC will recognize new printer install.
4. You need the software for permanent reset.
5. Run the software and select printer port.
   
6. Then select Set Destination
   
7. Click MAIN and PLATEN button to reset waste ink counter to zero.
   
8. Finally test print by click TEST PATTERN button.

You can't reset the ink level on all Canon Pixma printers.You need to turn off the function on printer to show the ink level.On most printers this happen with push resume button and hold it for 5 seconds.

If you put a new cartridges the printer will recognize it automatically.

Try reinserting tray before pressing resume button.

Try using the cannon software controls to use the scanner if the button does not work.

Brother MFC-3240C will not install

please reset manual first by pushing power button before plug in AC cord, then push resume button twice and release both, if still happen please reinstall driver

2. Push and hold resume  button and push power button 
3. Hold  Power button and release Resume  button 
4. Push Resume button twice ( 2x ), and now release resume button and power button 
5. Green light will blinking and  stop.
6. When green light on, push resume button 4 x 
7. Push  Power button and printer will off, if that isn't off, push power butto again until print off position.
