Dishwasher smells has a 'wet dog' smell

New dishwasher installed a week ago, dishes are coming out nice & clean but smelling awful, stale smell like 'wet dog'. Also had this problem with previous old dishwasher! Any advice for solution/casues? Thanks

Its the food and the steam together. its normal.

Eggs cause wet dog smell in my dishwasher. Prewash anything that has come in contact with either raw or cooked eggs before putting it in the dishwasher. I haven't had the smell since I figured this out.

Are you sure the sour milk smell is coming from *inside* the dishwasher? Do you have kids? Pull out the dishwasher, the fridge and the stove and look for spilled soured milk. When the windows are open, the breeze is blowing the smell.

I have seen this so many times in commercial kitchens during my 50 year career.

Try Running Goo Gone Through It Although It Smells Like Oranges It Removes Stains As Strong As Sap. Also Try Running The Dry Cycle While Its Empty Two Or Three Times.

Bad smell

Try running washer empty with soap or tablet in the regular cup and baking soda in the secondary cup. After cycle is complete and somewhat dry inside leave slightly open to allow air circulation overnight. This should help.

I have a very bad smell in my elite kenmore diswasher. We have had it for a year now. I have been smelling this now for several weeks and I didn't know where the smell was coming from until this morning when I pulled the door down to unload my dishes.
