Question about Waterway Spa Pump Executive 56 Frame 4hp Single Speed 2 1/2" Intake 2" Discharge

I need to know how to remove the impellar to replace the seal.

I have the waterway executive 56 spa pump (4HP). I am trying to find out how to remove the impellar in order to replace a leaky seal.

The impellor unscrews from the motor shaft.

On the other end of the motor shaft, you will find a slot which you can insert a large flat screwdriver, or an 'armature holding tool'. Once you have something to fit into that slot, you should be able to hold the shaft steady and unscrew the impellor from the shaft.

Sometimes they can be awkward to remove. You may need the armature holding tool and also a proper impellor removal tool too. It all depends on how tight it is and weather or not it's seized.

the problem with the sound is the bearings inside the motor are going out. i have the same pump and i have to replace the motor. replacing the bearings is very hard and will cost you about the same after you carry the motor and new bearings to a shop to be pressed in. hope this helps!!

There is a seal in there that a local pump repair shop can fix for about $30 - $50 with parts and labor. Waterway pumps use a 1000 seal that is not a seal the homeowner is usually successful at replacing themselves.

Is any one else out ther with a Waterways 56 pump replacing them every 3 years also?
The UK versions of the Waterway pumps seem to be very reliable. The only known issue is with the Run/Start capacitors which tend to fail but they're easily replaced.

Over the years I've heard of many pumps being changed unnecessarily.

Leaking #1 pump on Arctic Spas Cub hot tub.
I found out that the pump impeller can be unscrewed from the motor shaft by turning the impeller while keeping the shaft from rotating. There is a brass shaft coupling embedded in the back side of the impeller. This allowed me to remove the leaking seal assembly inside the pump by tapping it out gently. However, instead of just replacing the seal, I decided to replace the entire pump with a newer version. Cost was only about $25 more than replacing the seal and gaskets. The pump-motor assembly has been reinstalled in the spa and there are no more leaks.

How do i remove impellor
The impeller in my 4 HP, 2-speed Waterway Executive High Performance 56 pool & spa pump has a brass coupling embedded in the back side. This coupling can be unscrewed from the motor shaft by keeping the shaft from rotating while turning the impeller in the reverse direction. Then the seal can be tapped out.

I have a waterway monsterflow 6.5hp pump in my Coast Spa. I replaced the impellar and seals and the start compenstor. It works on speed two but not on speed one sany suggestions
Check to be sure you have good power through your timer and heater as they run the low speed.

The pump started making noise. After removal, looking at the shaft between pump and motor, the pump had pieces hanging out. Like a squashed bushing. Is this fixable? How do you take the rest apart? Thanks
You will have to remove the impeller ... this process will also requirre that you put in a new bearing/bushing and seal

I've never seen a reassembly diagram for this particular pump but I'm guessing that you've installed the mechanical seal incorrectly.

Where is it leaking from exactly?

Execetive 56 4hp pump
Looking at the face of the pump, the impeller unscrews by turning it counterclockwise. Also, for some strange reason, the 4HP pump gets a 3HP impeller; the rating is embossed, in very small letters, near the center of the impeller. The 3HP impeller part number is: 310-4200.
Be sure to change the seal: US Seal P/n: PS-1000.

My Coast Spa "manhattan" series My Coast Spa "manhattan" series hottub recently started having an issue with big bubbles forming, sticking to the edge of the spa an leaving behind an creamy oily, no smell, type of goo. I drained and re-filled it, and put in a new filter, got the chemical balances all AOK, and right from the getgo - same issue. I have 2 pumps. 1 - Waterway (single speed - pump #2) 2- Executive 56 (dual speed - pump #1 that also dows the circulation cycles) I was wondering if this issue could be related to my pumps? They both say 'wet end', does this mean they are oil filled and potentially could be leaking oil into the water?
