Those lines signify a bad display panel. The only thing you can do is replace the panel which can be hard to find and very expensive. Sorry to say, sounds like your panel is shot
IF YOU HAVE A SOLID BLACK LINE RUNNING VERTICALLY THEN YOU HAVE A FAULTY MATRIX INVERTER. IF CENTRAL THE MAIN VERTICAL INVERTER NEEDS CHANGED. LEFT = LEFT VERTICAL INVERTER RIGHT=RIGHT.........
ANOTHER WAY TO GET THIS FAULT IS WORN OR DAMAGED RIBBON/PLASTIC GOING FROM THE SCREEN MATRIX TO THE INVERTER .
BUT IF OTHERWISE CHECK x driver cables 10 ohm resistors have loose connections Hope this will help...
Try connecting an external monitor to the Dell Inspiron 9300 and see if the vertical line is also present on the monitor. If the monitor display is fine, then your laptop’s LCD display panel is defective. If the monitor also displays the vertical line, then your problem is with either the video card or motherboard located inside your laptop. Not sure if the Compaq Presario has an external monitor plug, but if it does the above procedure can be applied to that one as well. On Philips LCD and Plasma TV's you can center the picture left and right and also vertically. Use the round joystick in the center of the remote to see of you can shift the image to the left.
Red horizontal lines - about 50 of them going across the top 2/3 of the screen.....what a piece of junk!
What do I do now??
