New laptop and cannot find disc to download software


As weird as it may seem Olympus do not make their disc available online in any format. You have to go back to the place you purchased the camera from. However, the software that comes with this camera is not necessary for the camera operation rather it provides picture management and editing software.
I would suggest using picasa http://picasa.google.com/ as an alternative.
Please let me know how you get on.

Can i use the olympus sp-550 UZ as a web cam?


It is not possible to use this as a webcam as the camera is not capable of sending streaming data over the data cable rpovided with it and also the software rpovided with it (drivers) is not programmed for the camera to be used as webcam.

Unfortunately there is no camera in the Olympus product line that has the capability to be used as a webcam. Once you connect the camera to your computer the only purpose is to be able to transfer your images from the memory card to the computer. The camera was not designed with any webcam functionality.

Unfortunately this camera is not capable to be used as a webcam. It is only to be connected to the computer when you want to download images from the memory card to the computer.

It is not possible to use any Olympus camera as a webcam. The cameras are not designed with this kind of functionality. Buy a webcam from Logitech that is made exclusively for this purpose.

You should go to a local hardware store and take your camera. Keep checking screws until you find the right size.

Unfortunately the FE-280 is not capable to be used as a webcam. The camera does not have that capability. When connected to a computer it's only purpose is to be able to transfer images from the memory card to your computer.

The camera does not have the ability to be connected to the computer to be used as a webcam. Once connected to the computer the LCD screen is immediately dark.
