The InterVideo WinDVD 5 program on my laptop not working!

Please clean the dvd and replay the dvd. Check the same dvd on another laptop for confirming the bad DVD.

Intervideo isn't your video driver, it's a program you have on your computer. To see what your video card is:

• right-click on a blank part of the desktop
• select Properties from the menu
• select the Settings tab
• you should see something like the picture below

My display (video) card is an NVidia GeForce2 as shown. What is yours?

Why would I tell you how I fixed it if you charge to use this?

reinstall WinDVD, there is more in the chest or been deleted

try the dvd in another device or reinstall winDVD or try another application on your laptop like..windows media player...etc

In order to re-install WinDVD 9, remove all traces of WinDVD manually only delete the folders if they exist, and if allowed.If you cannot delete a folder, try renaming the folder by adding .old to the name of the folder. You will need to show hidden files and folders on the computer on XP go to Start, All Programs, Windows Explorer,tools, Folder Options, View, Hidden files and folders, Show hidden files and folders. Using windows Vista Start button , Control Panel, Appearance, Personalization, Folder Options, View, advanced settings, Show hidden files and folders, OK. The following folders will need to be erased.
Go to My Computer Use Start button, or on the Desktop. On Vista, Computer. Double click on C: drive, Documents and Settings and the folder named after your username.
When you reach the "InterVideo" folder, there will be a DVD9 folder, which is the one you are looking to erase. Note -This folder may be named Corel\DVD9 instead of InterVideo\DVD9 Erase the following folders Go to C:\Program Files\InterVideo or Corel delete the folder DVD9 Go to C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common delete the folder Bin Go to C:\Program Files\InstallShield Installation Information delete the folder {E3993D46-AE3F-402E-9F9D-EEBDFBEC3564} Go to C:\Program Files\Common Files delete the folder InterVideo Go to C:\Program Files\InterVideo\Common\ delete the folder Bin The second place to remove WinDVD 9 settings is in the registry.
Go to Start, Run type in regedit click ok. left hand column will be a list of items double click on HKEY_CURRENT_USER double click Software and InterVideo At the very end, when you reach the InterVideo folder,erase the DVD9 folder, by right clicking on it, and hitting Delete. Erase the following HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\InterVideo delete DVD9 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\InterVideo\ and DVD9 HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Uninstall and {E3993D46-AE3F-402E-9F9D-EEBDFBEC3564} Restart the computer. Go to Start Run type in "%temp%" and hit Ok. Erase as many files as possible .In the "Edit" menu, click Select All, go to the File menu click delete.Say yes to delete Reinstall your software and it will accept your key. if you formatted it with a recovery disk try inserting dist again while running windows as a administrator and try reinstalling the program. otherwise you have to pay the $80 for the new InterVideo WinDVD 9. ($40 for basic player)

The Vaio / Sony combo DVD drives are renowned to be some of the worst on the market. Sony puts the cheapest cr*p in their laptop and it should be no surprise that after a couple of reads (10+) and writes (10+), your combo drive will be as good as junk... dead weight in your laptop. You'll also hear strange repetitive noises coming from it. I have 3 solutions:
1) Go to the Vaio support site, type your model number to get its page and search DVD upgrade firmware. This should 2 files. One is a .bin and the other is an executable to flash the drive with that .bin file. If the problem still persists then bad news.
2) Buy a USB2 external combo drive. This should be real cheap nowadays.
3) Check impactcomputers for a replacement internal drive. Prices have come down but still quite pricey.

Also if you can let those f*cks at Vaio know what you had to go through, that'd be great.
