My Mitsubishi WT-46809 was arching for about 2 weeks. Now, I hit the power, the green light come on and then it turns off after 2 seconds. I see others have a similar problem but does anyone know if this is an expensive thing to fix?
Shutting down can be due to a blown fuse usually in the convergence section. the fuses are soldered in, with a voltmeter you can measure the fuses. if one is open then probably your convergence ICs are bad. about $250-$400 to have a field tech come to you and replace them. The other possiblity is a CRT (picture tube) fluid leak. this is more costly to fix, to check for a fluid leak pull the front lower panel and check for fluid on the chassis with a flashlight. I have sucessfully cleaning fluid from the chassis with electrical cleaner spray. after covering the chassis with a piece of plastic the set worked fine. A slow drip leak won't hurt the plastic, big leaks are another story.
hope this helps
