We have a widescreen plasma (Panasonic TY ST05-K). The picture all of the sudden shrunk to about 3/4 of the screen. Fortunately, the picture is not cut-off, so you can see the whole picture. The remaining 1/4 of the screen is dark grey with a black bar in the middle. Does this mean our tv is about to go out? Thanks!

Hi there! If picture is smaller top to bottom with blank section on top and bottom then check your aspect ratio settings. If blank at the bottom only the Bottom Y-Drive board may be faulty. If blank at the top The Top Y-Drive may be faulty. If blank on the Left (TOP TO Bottom) then the Right X-Drive Board and on the Right, the Left X-Drive Board. May also be bad connections on the cables or flexible ribbon cables. Best Wishes and Good Luck, JUS004

The Panasonic plasma model I have is th-50phd6. It links 7 times. How much to fix, you know labor, parts and time. I would like to see ido can repair it. I bought the tv for the stand...do you know how...

The problem is most likely a bad SC board, if you can find the board online it will probably run you between $250 - $300 for the part. A repair facility will charge you between $400 - $500 total to fix the unit if that is all that is wrong with it.

The picture has shrunk - maybe 720P vs 480P?

make sure your hd cable connection from your cable box is going to an hd connection to your tv.[via hdmi, dvi,or componant.] if you have a different hook up such as rca out or coax out, these are not hd connections and you are probably streching out the picture.look at the rear of the tv & cable box and see how the connections are.the hd hook up to the hd input should make the picture the right size only if it's set on the hd input channel.hook up the dvd player to a aux/line in or video/source input and try changing the picture size. you may have to play around with it till you get it the way you want.
hope this helps.

Dvd won't play through PACE hi def converter box, service electric cable ty

Why are you running hdmi to converter box? Run HDMI cable directly from dvd to new Panasonic plasma. The less things in between, the better the picture.
