Monitor often will not power up when power button is pushed. Disconnecting power for 90 seconds corrects problem. This is an intermittent problem that is occuring more frequently over time. Condition started approximately 6 weeks ago. Second issue (in last three days)....Screen goes black without warning, monitor goes through start-up sequence, displayng Acer logo and then resuming previous image. This has happened four times in three days, and when the screen blacked out, no keyboard or mouse functions were being performed. The monitor is 3 1/2 years old.

I was simply trying to specify that no other operator functions were being initiated when the screen blacks out. The screens blacks out....then displays the ACER logo....then it resumes displaying whatever was on the screen when it failed. Sorry if I didn't make that clear the first time.

Are you sure this is the monitor we are talking about because that has no relationship to the keyboard and mouse which are plugged into the COMPUTER base unit one of your error messages also indicates that the problem may not be your monitor as I have never heard of a monitor that displays the message you mentioned about resuming image.

I think there is a problem in Monitor's Power Supply unit which integrated in the base board of Monitor. If u expertise with the service then carry on. else Pl contact a Local Service professional to solve the problem

Testimonial: "Thanks for the opinion. I don't have the expertise to chase the problem myself, but at least I feel more comfortable turning it over to a tech now. "

Viewsonic VX2835wm monitor that powers up with a good screen for a couple of seconds and then goes blank. I replaced the power board and it still does the same thing. Could it be the on/off switch?

FIRST WE DO NORMAL AND LATER TRUE CAUSE.
gee that is normal on all monitors and by Energy Star laws too.
the monitor if the PC is dead or in speed mode, shuts of in 15 to 90 seconds, all do, every one. the monitor has self sleep, all do. everyone ever made did. even back to CRT days.

and the OSD button goes dead after. that. too. fooling the untrained.
here is the first tests, NO PC connected at all
power on see power light glow correct color
then see Viewsonic splash screen push the menu button now. quickly, if button dead hold it for 10 to 15 second to reverse the button lock now, see OSD works.

if you test the monitor on a good PC not in sleep mode the but working PC, your monitor is ok.

this monitor is very very old, 2004?
it has CCFL back lamps not LED<
and all fully used CCFL lamps are now no good, used 8yrs a day at 5years are no good. that is why we use LED back lamps now.
this is what they do: all do , used fully.
1: goEs dead forever, (vast did)
2: INTERMITTANT . (BINGO YOU ) OR INVERTER DEAD.
3: DIM BULBS (like me. lol)
4 TURN YELLOW FOR WHITE screens.
5: STROBEs. (FLASHes)

AND A VERY EXPENSIVE SURE, THAT. AND LABOR.

Push and hold your monitor's POWER button until the monitor shuts off completely.

After it is shut off, press the POWER button again to turn it back on and the lock should be disabled.

I have a kenwood 719 flip out monitor and i put a cd in it and the monitor says mecha error and won't let the cd come out. It just makes a bunch of noises. I pressed the reset button but that didn't work....

You can try to push the CD in further with an object and then try ejecting (be careful not to break the CD!). Also, the soft reset button on the outside of the unit may not work, but disconnecting constant power (hard reset) may cause the CD to automatically be ejected when powered back up again. This can be done by disconnecting the negative battery terminal on the car for 15 seconds. If these don't work, visit a local Kenwood stereo dealer for service as this is a common issue with the 719 series and 819 series.

LCD Monitor blacks in and out for 1-2 seconds

does your monitor have an external transformer as the psu ?
If so, try disconnecting at mains for about 5 seconds and re-connect. failing that we'll need to dig deeper.
