Hi a. Have you tried another mouse and
b. Are you using a glossy or prismatic mouse mat? Try using a different one or a sheet of A4 and see if this fixes it
hope this helps Mark

My curser jumps all around the screen when I am typing, how do I make it stop

hi...

thats normal on many laptops... even on my Dell and Lenovo...

the trick is to disable the Trackpad when typing...

1) Click Fn + F3 keys together to disable the trackpad and then type
2) Click Fn + F3 keys together to re enable the trackpad and then type
3) Buy an external Keyboard and Mouse (Wireless one) and use them (I do the same)
4) if you have trackpad drivers & application installed then adjust the sensitivity of trackpad on it

Thanks,

I have a HP mouse and it seems that curser has a mind of its own. The curser will take off on it own and then I have to go look for it. Can you tell me how the fix that?

If it is an optical mouse try it on a clean WHITE or light coloured surface, if that does not improve matters try a different USB port then try it on a different computer. If it is the same on a different computer throw it away. (test is to eliminate noise on your computer power supply which can sometimes cause this) If it is a ball mouse it will need cleaning, and fluff etc removing. Hope that helps

Sounds to be a hardware problem. especially if it would move by itself at times, now not at all.

Windows is detecting it correctly, right?

If so, then i would say time for a new one.

When i type the curser puts the text all over the place- what is the apparent problem

If you are "cursing" at the "cursor", you are the "curser".

Keep your thumbs and palms away from the touchpad.
Sometimes, you don't have to make contact with the touchpad
for it to move the mouse.

Or, your computer has a computer-virus, and some hacker has "remote-control" of your computer, and is moving your mouse-pointer.
