Try to remove rear wall of freezer to check frost pattern. An even but light patter of frost on full coil is normal. Coils full of frost with aluminum almost fully hidden generally means defrost problem. Heavier frost on the bottom coils and gradually tapering off as you go up until the top coils have no frost usually means a leak of freon or a bad compressor.

Freezer working fine, fridge not at all

Brand name and model would help but here is a guess. Most frost free refrigerators have the main cooling unit in the freezer area side. To get the fresh food side cold, there is a small fan in the freezer side that blows cold air to the fresh food side through a duct work or trap door. If that fan stops or fails for and reason, the first place you will notice the temp rise is in the fresh food section. See if you can hear the freezer fan running. You may need to push in the door switch for the freezer light to hear the fan because they sometimes run the fan wiring through the door switch. It may stop when door is opened.

My freezer is not blowing cold out. I hear the compressor running but its not getting cold

most likely bad evaporator fan motor located behind the wall in the freezer, when you open the freezer door you should hear the fan blowing in the freezer unless it's in defrost,if you don't hear it check it in 45 minutes if still no fan it's bad.

Refrigerator is not cold

Hi Louis,

This is what has happened. Due to the door being opened for so long moisture which is naturally in the air has collected on your freezer coils. What you need to do is turn the whole thing off for at least 24 hours. Open the doors and put some towels around it to let the frost melt out.
All the air that gets cooled in your unit gets cooled by a fan that pulls air through those coils. Once the frost has melted out of them it should cool just fine.

My Jenn-Air frig, model JCD2389G,isn't cooling. It's less than 7 years old. Freezer seems fine. Frig is set at coolest and still is only 55 degrees. Cleaned back of frig, what else do I check? thank you,...

Check the fan located in the freezer compartment.

This fan blows the cold air from the freezer into the fridge and is about 40 dollars for the part. Simple to fix too.

Bottom of freezer/fridge only getting cold.

Thre is a fan inside the freezer which circulates the cold air around both the fridge and the freezer compartments.
You should be able to feel cold air blowing around the inside, particularly at the top of the freezer.
If the defrost thermostat fails open, the internal fan (depending on freezer) will stop and this can be the cause of the freezer being warm at the top and no ice.
You say the bottom of the freezer is blowing cold, but are you sure its blowing, as it can feel like a cold blow. Of course the fan could have failed or may be the defrost heater itself.
