The refrigerator side will not get cold. I can hear the fan blowing on the freezer side and feel it blowing out cold air. But stuff on freezer side not getting frozen. Tried unplugging for half an hour to see if computer would reset itself. But did not work. I can hear the compressor running but not working. can't afford a new compressor. What can i do?
Try to remove rear wall of freezer to check frost pattern. An even but light patter of frost on full coil is normal. Coils full of frost with aluminum almost fully hidden generally means defrost problem. Heavier frost on the bottom coils and gradually tapering off as you go up until the top coils have no frost usually means a leak of freon or a bad compressor.
Hi,
Many times a freezer and/or refrigerator do not work right because of a dirty condenser coil...there are also many other things that can go wrong.
If you are hearing a clicking or buzzing then check out the last two tips.
If your refrigerator is running but warm, then...
Check out these tips that I wrote about that... it is a great place to start trouble shooting your unit...and something that you can do rather then calling a repair person to do a simple thing for you...
