The sensors must be pointed at one another to work properly. If one of them has been bumped it will cause the situation you have. Tweak them a bit to see if the light will come on. If it doesn't you have either a bad sensor or a bad logic board. Maybe you could move the sensors from the door that is working to eliminate the possibility of a bad sensor.

My garage door opener is a 3/4 craftsman and one light is yellow and the other is green. I put my hand in front of the green light and the green light went off. the other side is a yellow light and it

Hi Vickie,

The safety beam portion of the garage door opener is set up to stop the door from closing if something (car, person, etc,.) is in the doorway.

When the door is open - if you press the hard wired push button (not the wireless remote) the door will either close until shut completely, or begin to close and reverse direction as soon as you let go of the button. When this happens, it *usually* means that a sensor is blocked - and reversing the door motor. If you try yhtis with the remote the door may not move at all or just bump down and stop.

You should re-align the sensors as described in the link below. Good luck!

Chamberlain troubleshooting

Check to see if sensors (eye) on sides of door are lined up, they need to be looking directly at each other. If that doesn't work change sensors, simple, install, hook up 2 wires per sensor, wire with line to same wire, blank wire to same blank wire and align so sensors see each other.

I have the chamberlain garage door opener. the door will not shut. the door travels to about 8 inches above the floor and then reopens. the door is just over one year old and has worked well up...

The sensor colors are correct. Try wiping the little eye sensors that point at each other for one thing and make sure there isn't something protruding from door that's coming into the patty of electric sensors.

Sensor Light is yellow on one side and the other side is green. Does the sensor have batteries or does it need to be replaced?

The color of the sensors doesn't matter and they do not have batteries but must be pointed at one another to work. Make sure the small light on each one is lit and not flickering.

We have the craftsman 1/2 hp garage door opener and it will only go up 1/4th of the way up and stops. I already reset the unit. One sensor is green and the other is yellow. Cleaned the yellow side sensor,...

The sensors only work when the door is closing. Remove the cover from the motor unit and check the drive gear. It is a white nylon gear and is probably stripped.

Liftmaster formula 1 garage door opener keeps "bouncing" open

If the door reverses when it hits the floor it is traveling too far. Locate the 'down limit' control on the side of the motor unit and turn this in the opposite direction of the arrow printed on the cover. Some tweaking will most likely be necessary. You can always recognize a sensor problem because the main light will flash 10 times. If the main light isn't flashing it isn't a sensor problem.

One of my garage door sensors is yellow while the other is green.

It means your sensors are properly aligned. Are you having a problem?

Garage door sensors out of alignment

The lights are suppost to be yellow (power to photo eyes) and green (lined up).
1.Check to see if the door is running correctly.
  A. Run the door down and pull the emergency release. See if the door will run easily by itself.
  1. If it runs hard by hand try lubricating the rollers and hinges with silicone spray or some form of lubricant (not WD 40)
  2. If the door is heavy and falls back to the ground, you probably have a spring issue (either broken or needs more tension) in this case call a professional door repair company in your area.
  B. If the door runs fine then check the up force on your operator (the box that hangs from the ceiling). If the light bulb(s) on your operator are on the front and/or back, the force adjustment screw is on the back of the operator. If the lights are on the sides of the operator then the force adjustment screw is on the right side (looking from the back of the operator and facing the garage door). Turn the light blue adjustment screw with the up arrow to a higher number.

Garage Door

Are the sensor lights located on each side of the garage door opening? Have you checked to see if they are in alignment with each other? Also check to see that any wire from the sensors are disconnected on the motor or at the sensor itself. Good Luck! Countrycurt0
