This model Dell laptop used a PCMCia card as a network adapter, which may or may not be installed in the slots on the side of the laptop. If one is installed you may need the dongle (an adapter that plugs into the card and ends in a standard network jack)

an example of several types can be found at http://tekgems.com/Products/3comdongle.htm

Where does the internet cable go? there is an opening like something is missing on the ... dell latitude cp laptop will not connect my dsl internet service

The RJ45 ethernet cable looks very much like a fat telephone chord. It plugs into the female port.

I don't get paid for advice so if this answers your problem, I would appreciate 4 thumbs.

Dell latitude cp laptop how do you make it wireless for the internet

All laptops have inbuilt wireless network cards. You would need to have a wireless access point which has internet connectivity at your home or office. If available, you need to search for the wireless network and get connected. Some networks are secured so you would have to contact the administrator for the key.

Can i connect wireless internet on my Dell Latitude?

if it's a tower... you'll need a linksys pci wireless card... and a linksys router... install the drivers first... then... with the computer off... follow instructions for installing the card... connect the antenna... and then turn on. wiat for the computer to boot... it should automatically find the card... now... on the back of the cable modem... disconnect the wire that was going to the computer... and put it in the connection on the router that says "internet", now... disconnect the cable modem... wait 30 seconds... then plug it back in... wait 1 min. for everything to come up... now... connect the power to the router... and wait 1 min... go to the linksys icon in the taskbar... and double click on it... survey the site... when you find the wireless networks that are avil... choose the one that's got the strongest signal... and click connect. now... open the internet broser... and go to tools... internet options... then connections, down at the bottom... you'll see lan... click on it... you should see a box that says automatically detect settings... make sure this is checked...then click apply... then on o.k... and exit the internet.... then go back in... you should have internet...

My fiance is the the military! I sent him my old Dell latitude CP ... I forgot that it doesn't have a phone plug to connect to the Dial up on base. Is there a way to connect to the internet I don't...

I bought my sister a Dell laptop that didn't have a dial up modem in it, never saw one that didn't have one.
Dell sells a dial up modem that goes into the usb port for about $35, which I sent to her and it works. Basically it is just an external dial up modem.
Give it a try, just call the dell help phone number.

I have a dell latitude L400

You can try setting up a new internet connection through the internet connection wizard, but you will probably need a disc from Sprint in order to do this.

Dell latitude d800 laptop

The problem may be the modem has to assign an IP address to your laptop, what you may have to do is plug the laptop into the modem and see if the laptop recognizes the modem with no errors in device manager,

Next turn off the laptop and modem, reboot the laptop then modem for the modem to assign an IP address.

Internet connection

Hi, A couple of questions first...Does the computer have a network port connection somewhere?
Do you already have the modem or is there a modem in your laptop that you wish to use?
Have you setup your account with an Internet Service Provider (ISP)?
What type of Internet Service are you having or getting?
How old is the Laptop?

Why I ask is that generally if you have already setup your account with your provider, and depending on the type of account you have chosen they provide the modem and cables for you. All you have to do is plug it all in.
Please let me know and I can give you more details.
