Mp3 player I have a dell laptop and i can't figure out how to transfer mp3s from my computer to my phone!... was there supossed to be a install cd come with my phone?

i do not have the disk that came with my vx8600. so my hp pavillion laptop vista will not recognize my phone, I downloaded music essentials already

the phone I have never came with a CD for the computer... I have tried everything to try to put music onto it. I can get music onto the removable SD card, but it wont transfer over to the phone itself, it just says the file type is not compatible with the phone... this is BS!!! Ive tried changing the file type from a "mp3" to a "amr" to a "midi" to this and that and NOTHING works.... I dont understand. my music player will play the music that I put on the removable SD card, but it wont copy over to my phone because its "unrecognized" ??? how does that even make sense???  the phone I have never came with a CD for the computer...
