Rapid battery drain, also with new battery

Hi I have a canon ixus which I've had for 3 years now - within the last month the battery has started playing up, draining within a few minutes of use. So I bought a replacement battery >> same problem. So it must be a problem with the camera. Does anyone have any ideas / solutions?
thanks in advance

Sony DSC H5 runs down batteries very rapidly. Much faster than when the camera was originally purchased. A pair of new AA batteries only lasts for 12 - 24 photos. Brand new rechargeables fully charged are...

Hi there please reset the camera 1st . THen pair your battery with your camera. Go in menu then battery type option. Select the type of a battery. After that save the setting. Now try . If you face the same problem then the camera internal power transformer are damaged or week. So you need to replace that transformer after that it will start work properly. You use that camera so long, that's why there is a chance of that damaged. Thanks if its helpful then rating me.

I have a Canon Ixus 60 and the low battery indicator flashes most of the time - even on a fully charged battery. Is my camera destined for the graveyard?

No, but the battery may be ready to be buried. The rechargeable battery is only meant to last a couple years maximum, then should be replaced. If the age of the battery is about the same as the camera, then this is your likely problem. Fortunately, there are many inexpensive generic alternatives for your battery these days. Here are some from Amazon. Performance varies among the generics, so make sure you read the user reviews before purchasing.

My 2 yr old Ixus 70 keps turning itself off.

How old is your battery? Keep in mind rechargeable Li-Ion batteries aren't meant to last more than a couple years, regardless of whether they've been used or not. If yours is as old as your camera, I think you know the answer. The good news is there are many inexpensive generic alternatives available these days. Some are very good, and vice versa. Research the buyer reviews before considering purchasing.

Change battery pack

How old is your battery? The rechargeable LI-ion battery is only meant to last a couple years at most. If your battery is a couple years old (or longer) it's probably time to consider a new battery.

Fortunately, due to the popularity of Canon cameras, generic versions of the NB-4L battery for your camera are widely available. This makes them very inexpensive. Recommend looking for one on Amazon with good user ratings. Here's some suggestions.

HTC S710 - Battery issue

Hi guys

if u buy new battery for around 35$... its creepy thing that it again sucks within
6 month
so follow these procedure that i really got good response

1)Buy the new battery from any other dealers (u can use Nokia (std) or LG, Micromax, Onida... etc)
having same specifications as 1050mAh Lion-POLYMER 3.7v and having equivalent Size that fit into the case.

2)Now open ur dead battery, remove the sticker slowly, u wil get the polythene bag carrying the charge sheets
.
3)Please note that dont not disturb this polythene bag... (cutting, drilling or pinning), else it starts burning.

4)U will see a circuit above the polyhthene bag having two poles (+ve n -ve) just cut the poles of bag from the circuit and keep the bag aside

5)Now do the same procedure with new batt and remove the polythene bag.. and soilder with
the dead battery circuit. (check the +ve n -ve by multimeter)

5)Re-assemble with insulation tape and recondition it perfectly.
now check poles bofore starting.

Note : i got good result from this and i m getting 18-19hrs standby and 11-15hrs usage. Do it on ur own risk...and i m not responsable for ny harm)

Ixus 75 battery discharges overnight even if the camera is turned off.

That's it, the battery's defective, it's not the camera...unless you've tried another (new) battery...

S2 suddenly draining batteries rapidly

I have the same exact problem. I just now read a possible solution: try opening the battery compartment door and then closing it again to "trick" the camera into thinking it just got new batteries. There is definitely something wrong with the way the camera senses dead batteries.
