Thanks to Jeffrey Vicada in the previous solution, his code starting with #2 resets a Canon MP950 allowing continued printing.

The waste ink absorber is almost full. Press [OK] to continue but early replacement recommended. <See manual>
WASTE INK NEAR FULL
The printer has a built-in waste ink absorber to hold the ink used during print head cleaning, for example. This error message indicates that the waste ink absorber is nearly full.
Press the OK button to cancel the error so you can continue printing.
Before the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, contact a Canon service representative. (You will need to replace a particular part of the printer.) Canon recommends that you call for service as soon as this error occurs. Once the waste ink absorber becomes completely full, printing cannot be performed until the Waste ink tank is replaced.
this answer is directly from canon

Your best bet is to go to the canon website at www.canon.com
They should beable to direct you as to where to call or you may be able to just order the part, I am not sure as I have never delbt with canon. Once you are on there page look for the support section there should be contact info there. Glad I could help.

I cannot find the tool program to reset the counter with MacBook Pro. I am referring to the ink absorption pads being full, and error message 5B00 comes up. Many thanks
